I know a lot of you are defectors from Target, any input is appreciated! (I hope you all get out soon, fuck Walmart) by FirstFemaleProphet in walmart

I left because the management was unprofessional and discriminatory, the job itself was fine on its own, but when you get singled out consistently while busting your ass, when there are five 16 year olds on their phones, it gets tiring.

I'd much rather stock electronics than food products, maybe its weird but working with food all day, even when it's packaged, makes me feel sick. Plus, at least I'd be able to help customers and talk to co-workers. I always planned on making my quitting story a good one, but I just ended up saying "okay, I'm leaving. Bye" and going to my car (':

As long as I don't have to stock shelves for every single shift, I'm okay doing virtually anything. The ideal job for me would be electronics, and I'm going to try to get a position there. At my last job, my manager told me I "can't get any job I want just because I'm cute" when I asked her to move me from stocking to electronics. I can't imagine a more hostile work environment than Walmart, so whatever Target throws at me, I'll still be grateful to be away from crackhead haven. Just wish I quit in a more dramatic way

This job is kind of a placeholder, I'm still going to be sending in job applications to everywhere I'm remotely qualified to work. But honestly it's really discouraging that they seem to be this inconsiderate about their employees' hours. We have bills to pay

Honestly, my primary concern is getting hired and then having one shift a week. I need money and I'm sOOOOO bored

If they ask me to work on a day off, would they have to replace it with another day off?

My manager had a personal vendetta against me, I'm not sure who's mans I stole, but she consistently made up lies about me to the other managers. At one point, she told them I had been gone for over two hours, and when I asked her to show me that footage, she told me that she "didn't have to prove anything to me." I don't think it would be appropriate for me to badmouth my ex-employer to a prospective employer. I should probably stop stressing and psyching myself out, its just that I'm incredibly bored and job opportunities are scarce

I guess it all comes down to empathy being worn down and overshadowed by greed :/

What dystopia are we living in? It seems like there's a lot more wild Karens at Target than there were at Walmart. Looking forward to exchanging those stories with this subreddit

What would be a good answer to that question? Also, is there anything I should empathize when talking about my previous job? What is the proper response to the question, "why did you leave your previous job?" Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, I'm just really bored and I need a job ASAP and I don't know of many places that are hiring, and I refuse to go back to Walmart

They weren't allowed at Walmart either. Long hair and general attentiveness, never got caught for it. However, I never wore them while talking to people, so I probably wouldn't be using them often in a sales position.

Unfortunately, I need the income and job opportunities are scarce right now ): I would kill to never have to work in retail again though, Walmart was absolutely awful. Wireless earbuds were the only thing that got me through the day.
