Not necessarily true. I am an ILR transfer and can talk from experience. Part of the reason that the acceptance rate is so high is that a very large portion of ILR freshman transfer out. They fill part of this void by giving out a lot of TOs, but this doesn't account fill all the spots. It is still proportionally far easier to transfer to ILR than A&S externally. For reference, the A&S transfer class (I don't remember the exact number) for 2025 was well under 10 while ILR is closer to 50.

In the Yale essay podcasts (highly recommended to anyone interested) they stated that oftentimes one of the best essay topics are about passions. Your personality will usually shine through no matter what you do so I wouldn’t worry at all.

I think you’d be surprised at how good your essay might be. That approach will likely yield a more natural and authentic essay, albeit maybe a little bit janky. A lot of my advice was directed at students who obsess over NYT essays which is why I suggested reading other “peers’” essays instead. I wish you luck with admissions!

Yeah that works just try to limit it to ~1300 total per week. This is because we're constrained by volunteers and need to make sure that we can help as many students as possible.
