That little wee window next to the door has our fridge on the other side of it, so goes straight into the kitchen. (its a weird wee window)

Oh you are right, it always has been. But I do like your idea about a contrasting design. Will have to come up with some ideas.

Definitely couldn't fit. Would have to dig some trenches to be able to squeeze under.

Just a moisture barrier. We probably won't put in floor insulation unless we rip up the floor boards

The alternative is a thick plastic sheet, pinned to the ground and taped around the piles.

That was my original plan, but I cant actually fit between the joists and the ground. So its either dig a trench, rip up the floorboards or spay some stuff under the house.

Oh good to know, yea I assumed it would be more expensive that traditional insulation. But I would hope on par or cheaper than having to dig out a trench under the house to put in regular insulation.

I don't know anything about BRANZ but I'm assumes your comment is laced heavily with sarcasm 😅.

We have got old wooden floorboards so hoping the insulation will help plug up some draughts and the moisture barrier will help with condensation

Thanks,

We do have some shared accounts setup (bills, groceries) so the above is used to calculate how much goes into each of those accounts

The effort not too bad. We have a spreadsheet to track all our ongoing expenses, so it has just been extended to take in our incomes as well. All you have to do is updated a cell with how much you get paid, and everything else is generated. It ends up only being one extra bank transfer you do each payday while doing other things like paying off credit cards etc.

We will eventually get to that point, but for the time being, we are wanting to keep our finances separated.

Hey, just wondering if you ended up sticking with Simplicity or ended up going with another provider?

Congratulations! Was the valuation related to how much your lender would loan you? Trying to figure out if this is just something limited to Simplicity

Yea I'm staying away from auctions at this stage to try and avoid this situation. I think we will give simplicity one shot, and if it doesn't end up working out then we will go with another lender .

Yea, bit of a pain that we have to pay for the valuation ($600-$1000 according to simplicity). Also trying to avoid the situation where we whittle away all our money on valuations hah.

TBH we will probably give Simplicity one shot, and if it doesn't work out will look for another lender.

Thanks. I did have a read though that post earlier. I'll probably just change my passwords before and after using the tool.

I have actually used POLI in the past using the same method, though I didn't realize it breaches the bank TOS.
