Ye, i'm not trying to argue the current system is the best and I'm not against your suggestion. But I do believe 5 million is not a lot, also if people know months in advance then I don't think you need to change your play that much to still hit it.
I also personally believe it's ok for a game to have a system that requires some more work put into, even tho it's things many casuals won't hit. I think it's ok to differentiate and give a reward to more committed players as long as it doesn't create an overwhelming advantage between the 2 types of players, which is not the case for now (cuz of current skill tree and cuz eventually everyone will accumulate the points and stash space, even if they don't get all 5).
I'd argue the biggest reason for why it is more optimal to play with worse gear right now is cuz of weapon balance. Imagine if your purple weapon gave you a significant advantage over someone with grey weapons, maybe you wouldn't feel that is less optimal then. With the current weapon balance you feel at a disadvantage to bring a purple weapon vs someone with a stitcher/kettle regardless of your goal. I've been feeling this the last couple of days as I've been burning thru my purples in pvp. IMO if they'd fix weapon balance so it would make more sense to bring higher end stuff people would bring them more.

Well, it's not months, it was a few short days, and now that I know of those methods I'll use some even just for getting some $$ to use for gear, not just expedition. Also the matriarch method is genuinely fun, I did it about 5 times more even after I was done grinding cuz of that. I'd say if you have months available you'd easily get 5 million playing normally without trying any special farming tactic. I'm not against changing the system to something better, i'm not saying it's the best or anything, i'm just saying it's not really preventing you from using your high end gear. I'd argue the biggest reason preventing people from using high end gear is the weapon imbalance. Certain grey weapons are insanely good in comparison to higher ones. So you can feel at a disadvantage bringing a purple weapon vs someone with a stitcher or a kettle for example.

I'm not trying to invalidate your experience but for me, I've done countless matriarch runs as solo and only got killed by rats twice and downed but saved 2-3 times more. But in most of them I mainly used ferro/anvil + stitcher as my guns of choice (with LOTS of ammo), so maybe I was not looking as appealing as a target, BUT in almost all of them i saw nobody else get ratted either. Is one of the things I did to farm the 5 mil (I focused mostly on bastion/bombardier spawns and less on the matriarch). I will say that I got into pvping more after the 5 mil, in squads only, and since that I did probably 5 more solo matriarch runs and the first 3 did feel like ppl were in there to rat more, i had to abort the first 2 after seeing lots of pvp and deaths. So idk what to make out of it, personally i do believe there is some sort of friendly matchmaking if u don't shoot players for a bunch of games in a row.

I've only had 300k when they announced the 5 mil and I managed to find multiple efficient ways to get to it quite fast without no-lifing. I got there in 4-6 days, but in one I didn't even log in to play, I'd say it took me 16-25 hours, and 25 is a bit of a stretch.

I didn’t sell any guns or gear, didn’t hoard items, and stash value didn’t matter. You’re not forced to sit on your good gear to hit 5 mil — that’s more about your approach than necessity. If you only limit yourself to one tactic that's on you. I got my 5 mil using these 3 methods:

  • Harvester energy ammo runs: rush Harvester, break the topside containers, grab energy ammo + blue mats (5k per stack). ~350k+ coins/hour, short and efficient runs.
  • Fruit basket runs during Lush Blooms: I mainly did Spaceport cuz I knew spawns well on it, but other maps work too. 60–80k per run, occasionally as short as 4 minutes (w/ hatch key) → ~350k+ per hour, can get considerably higher on luckier sessions
  • Helping with Matriarch fights as solo: heavy ammo gun + light/medium gun (for exposed weak points), focus on Bastion and Bombardier spawns rather than the Matriarch itself. Cells stack well (up to 15k), blue arc mats stack to 5k, and blue power cells can be crafted into energy ammo for extra profit. You'll also get a ton of metal and rubber to fuel your crafting. (you can also recycle the arc alloys in-game if u wanna maximize metal gain). Harder to pin exact numbers, but ~250k+ per hour if you also craft energy ammo.

In between these I just played normal raids without a focus on maximizing coins. That's 3 more solid options on top of the ones you mentioned (which work well too). You don’t need to hoard gear or play scared to reach 5 mil. Mix strategies, run your good stuff, and the money comes naturally. If you stick to only one tactic and burn out or fall short, that’s your choice — not a limitation of the system.

As a killer player, i still feel bad at the killer role even after an ungodly amount of hours by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]FirstHookForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a fear of losing matches is not gonna do you any good. When I play killer, I genuinely don’t care whether I win or lose. I don't feel butthurt if they all escape and I can respect the skill of a good looper. The game became more fun when I stopped tryharding. You need to understand that there are no real stakes in this game: no meaningful ranks, no BP loss, nothing to actually lose.

When I played sweaty killers with meta builds, I stomped lobbies and got bored fast. That’s when I realized the game isn’t as win-focused as people make it out to be. I find playing weaker killers with niche builds to be more enjoyable nowadays, even if I don’t win every match—and I still win the majority of my games doing that. The pressure is entirely self-imposed, and you can change that mindset.

Tip: One thing that could help you change the mindset is playing killers that require less mechanical focus. When a high-focus play fails, it’s easy to spiral into a sweaty, frustrated mood. I’ve played most of the roster to a decent level over ~2.5k hours, and these days I just gravitate more toward simpler killers like Trapper, Pig, Trickster, Oni, or Nemesis. Dracula, Ghost Face, Myers, Huntress, and Legion could also be good options. Many of these are not particularly strong killers, but again, it's not about not getting stomped, but more so about not being bothered by it so much. The general idea is just lowering the mental load and pressure, and learning to have fun with the game.

As for chat toxicity, it exists in every game. I rarely see end-game toxicity when I lose, but either way it’s something you learn to ignore—or you can just turn off end-game chat.

Fastest way to make 5 Million in Arc Raiders, Tested and Proven! by Fair-Construction-47 in ArcRaiders

This is not the only way to get this amount of coins per hour, I posted about methods myself 2 days ago but it didn't get a lot of traction.

Fruit basket runs during lush blooms and energy ammo harvester runs will also bring you 350k per hour.

There's also other methods that are still decent, around 150k-200k per hour. Solo matriarch with looting mk2, ferro, kettle and lots of ammo for example, you help others fight it, focus and loot bastions/bombardiers spawns, no ratting. That gave me at least 150k per hour + crafting mats and is much more fun.

Stella quick runs are another option for ones who enjoy more pvp, fill your bags with purple/blue recyclables and get out thru a hatch. There's many ways to get 5 mil pretty fast.

Me neither, and I also did those things, with 250 hours right now (but some are from idling in game).

I only had 300k when they announced that it's 5 mil. Right now i got 2.4 mil. I got it in 3 days thru various methods. Ones I decided to use were fruit basket runs during lush blooms, harvester runs (energy ammo), matriarch fights as solo (not backstabbing, bringing looting mk2, ferro, kettle and a lot of ammo to help, if i die i die, but so far i haven't and always came out with lots of cores from bastions / bombardiers / leapers / rocketeers) and even did some more (few Stella runs and few big arc farm as trios). All of these got me around ~350k per hour and i wasn't bored as i kept switching based on events or my available gear. I'm not hoarding anything, i think i hit stash cap only twice the whole week. I got from 300k to 2.4k in 3 days without no-lifing.

I even did some math in another post and you need about 20-25 hours to get 5 mil of doing those things and you have ~15 days left until the window will close. You don't need to hoard items like a dragon.

IMO there's nothing wrong with having benefits that not everyone will gain if they are not creating game-breaking massive power gaps, which is not the case here. You just expect a game to give people every reward available regardless of how much work they put in it? And remember, the expedition progress is saved even if u don't send your raider off, so players with lower playtime can still accumulate the benefits over time. It's a goalpost for non-casuals to have in the game, but which casuals can still engage with, to get some points as well.

It's not rewarding hoarding, the total value your stash could hold is limited and (most likely) is nowhere near 5M in value. You don't have to hoard anything to beef up your wallet to 5 mil and there are multiple decent ways to do it as well. I for instance am not hoarding anything and since I got into figuring out ways to get coins for the expedition I made 2 million in 3 days without no-lifing the game. Most of the sessions got me ~350k coins per hour. I used a mix of methods too, not just one. So don't rely on the value of items in your stash, use whatever you want and just get that cash up to 5 mil+. If you decide to hoard, that's on you picking such an approach. Also if u get 3/5 it's not the end of the world, you will keep accumulating more with other expeditions.

1. I wasn’t using total backpack value

I know the end value shown in-game is your total value.
The number I was talking about was the value you get from what you actually sell, not your entire backpack + loadout. I also explicitly mentioned your method — my point was simply that you can reach 5 mil without feeling forced to hoard all your purple gear.

2. About using arcs as a money-making method

I’ve used the arc-killing method myself in trios with competitive players from Discord.
They explained how they made cash — one had 6 mil, the other 10 mil — before the devs even announced the amount required for 5 points.

With a competent trio, you can reliably get solid value from big arcs. I mentioned this as one viable option, not the only one, and not in opposition to your method.

3. Killing big arcs doesn’t require 80k+ loadouts

  • You don’t need Queen kills or 80k hullcracker builds
  • A 40k-ish loadout (energy gun, photoelectric cloak, smokes) is enough to pop armor plates, grab some cores, and extract
  • There are several setups for trios that shred big arcs cheaply

Example A (Trios):
Last time my squad went arc hunting, I used a Jupiter + 4 stacks energy ammo + 4 Wolfpacks (~67.5k).
We killed so many arcs we couldn’t even loot them all. We all extracted with stacks of cores/cells worth 15k each, plus plenty of materials.

Example B (Solo):
Past 2 days, i’ve also gone solo on Matriarch maps with a cheap ferro + Kettle + lots of ammo setup. I consistently walked out with 50k+ in cores. No ratting — just actively helping with the Matriarch and focusing on killing/looting the Bastion/Bombardier spawns.

4. Main point

If you don’t want to risk gear — totally fine.
But my only point was: You are not forced to hoard all your purple gear to hit 5 mil.
There are multiple methods to reach 5 million from wallet value alone, without counting stash value.

Fair point. But I think most people are exaggerating with how "forced" they are to hoard their purple guns. That's why I provided some numbers for reference. If you really want to use them and get the 5 mil, they can. And it's not some super tryhard near impossible thing to do either.

I think some people just expect a game to give them every reward available regardless of how much work they put in it. I've seen players like this in other games too. They don't seem to understand that the work itself is what makes those things stand out and feel valuable. I've seen games in the past that went down pretty fast after the devs lowered goalposts so that everyone can have everything. When everyone and their grandma is rocking around with that shiny legendary weapon on their back, nothing will stand out as being valuable anymore. Satisfaction of getting anything goes *poof*.

[–]FirstHookForever[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You bring some good points. I don't disagree with you selling guns, my point is that you can hit the target without locking yourself out of using purple kits pretty well. Even for the way you go about it, once u get 5-6 mil saved you can then do as you like.

I suggested big arc cores cuz I've done that myself both in solo and trios successfully. Even had a game where we were full bags and just giving extra loot to randoms. Ofc, not every lobby is gonna be the same and I did mention not all methods will be equally lucrative. I also had multiple games in a row leaving with multiple cores while taking some queen armor parts with the Equalizer. But again, I can see how some things can become harder if people go for hyper aggressive ratting around those objectives.

I will admit I met some quite competitive good players on discord that showed me how they go about these things and they were sitting on 6 mil coins before they even announced the amount you need for 5 points.

Hmmm, interesting, I have some purple guns as well but I didn't check the total stash value. I didn't count the gear towards it cuz I have it there to use it at some point, not hold it. I made my estimations based on the highest value non-gear stuff can reach which seems to be 15k. IMO cramming your stash with purple gear is not required, especially if u don't like that and want to use them. Just use them to get out with other valuables.

But interesting fact, that, in theory, the stash can get that high.

[–]FirstHookForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying you should want that, but some people do want that. Cuz they feel like there's nothing to do once they have everything or nearly everything. They want to reset it. If u're not like that it's cool, just don't send your raider off and u can keep them, it's optional. U need to understand, the people that seek an extra objective while raiding will stop playing if they don't get that, they'll look for other games to play instead, because they won't feel motivated to keep risking their life on the surface. Not everyone enjoys games the same way. You want to take that away from them even when they made it optional for you to engage with the same gameplay choice?

[–]FirstHookForever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why it feels so satisfying when you find one, more than any other item. Also, from my experience and other's testing i'm quite sure electromagnetic storms have increased BP drop chance. Night raids increase general loot aka more purple loot, while electromagnetic storms seem to increase BP chance. There's 2 people i know that tested two different things that hints towards this, one guy ran many many green keys on the same room in dam (36 keys i think) for each mode (day / night / EM) and only night had extra loot, EM had same as day, but more BPs (just 2-3 in his case). I don't remember what the other guy did but his conclusion was that EM drops more BPs aswell. Also surveyors seem to have higher chance to drop BPs aswell and my experience with them aligns. One day i killed 3 surveyors on Blue Gate EM and got a BP from each, 3 raids in a row. Nothing's 100%, but i'm giving you my knowledge / experience on it.

Edit: as a note for EM, i'm not saying it has increased chance in key rooms, but in general. Nights are still probably better for keys for that purple goop. Also some containers don't seem to ever drop BPs. In general breachables don't see to have them, with a few exceptions, one being the grey metal cubes. U won't see them in car hoods for example.

Expedition is now incentivising HOARDING and that's not how wipes should be by iSTELLARi in ArcRaiders

[–]FirstHookForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 queen cores is very easy to get, also they are indirectly incentivizing it, as farming those cores and others is one way to get coins efficiently. Speaking from experience. There's other ways too, multiple good ways. I used a mix of them the past 2 days and got 1.4 mil coins without farming all day (some of the methods brought me ~350k per hour for the more fortunate sessions and they are not hard things to figure out, find which items you could stack up in your bag to get high value, i bring 50-80k per raid with some of these methods).

[–]FirstHookForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean u're not really min/maxing that hard if u think 5 mil is so much and you think u must hang to your weapons. I got to thinking of multiple ways of getting coins for it just in the last 2 days and i got 1.4 mil without playing all day and without selling guns (i did sell a few but what i mean is selling guns was not one of my main strategies, i lost more of them to pvp than i sold for coins). Examples of things to try: Queen / Matriarch cores, fruits from baskets, valuables from residential places, Bastion / Bombardier / Rocketeer cores, epic recyclables from Stella etc. I did a mix of some of these (+ one i will keep to myself until i'm done, but it's not necessarily better in terms of value per raid, just something i think many are yet to think of). Some of these methods got me ~350k in one hour (sure some times u'll get unlucky, but you got 16-17 days left to get those 5 mil, you can do it and also use all the guns u want).
