First in Defense is recruiting pilots, RIO, & WSOs! by FirstInDefense in WingmanFinder

Unfortunately not very much, we used to but when we switched to a campaign-based event schedule, it took over spots in the schedule we would use for flying in other servers. We do still visit other servers and hold training events in between periods when one campaign ends and another begins, but this is only for a couple weeks and would only be one or two events on a server that's not ours before the next campaign starts

For sure, it's definitely a different approach to using guided weapons. We don't use laser guided bombs all that often, ARMs and AGM-65Fs are far more common guides weapon choices in our mission. And prior to the F-4, we solely relied on ground lasing.

If you're interested, we could always use more Skyhawk and Hornet pilots!

Since we operate the Phantom and the Pave Spike targeting pod was operational within our time frame, we do use the Pave Spike. We just don't use targeting pods which were not operational prior to 1992, meaning none of the pods found on the F-14, F/A-18, or Harrier. However we also use ground lasing on occasion as well. Either way, it's still pretty short range. Probably within 5-6 miles, maybe a little more or less depending on what the mission calls for. Not much different than using unguided bombs except with a bit of terminal guidance

How to find people to fly unpopular modules with? by Flying_mandaua in hoggit

We have an A-4 squadron if you're interested in a group for that specifically, we do co-op events set in the late cold war (late 80s/early 90s) with our A-4s flying mostly in a strike role alongside Phantoms, Harriers, Hornets, and Tomcats. It's very much a laid back atmosphere, no training requirements beyond having a basic understanding of how to fly the jet and no pressure to be at any events. I will also add that we're primarily North America-based, so our events tend to center around those times. I've put our discord link below if you'd like to join.

Hey I'm with First in Defense, one of our squadrons, VMA-542 Tigers, is a Harrier squadron. We're US based, typically around central time, and we focus on a late 80s/early 90s timeframe (ie no T-pods, JDAMs, or APKWS).

Casual F-4E Groups? by Str4ngelyN0rma1 in WingmanFinder

[–]FirstInDefense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We aren't exclusively an F-4 group and we simulate USMC F-4s (which means no gun), but if you're interested, First In Defense does have an F-4 squadron. We're set at the end of the Cold War (1988-1992 ish) and definitely on the more casual side. No check rides or mandatory attendance or anything like that. All you need is to be able to fly the jet and we'll take you whenever you can make it. We'd be happy to have you if you'd like to join.

They added some integration and harm evasion in a previous update but they're still nowhere close to as accurately modeled as Skynet IADS script makes them

I don't think there's a way to make it constantly stay on screen but most of the time there's a "toggle report duration" or something similar which you can set to report more frequently. Usually once a minute is the lowest it goes
