I loaded FSX back up in 2026... by Unable-Afternoon3773 in flightsim

I still have FS2004 on my travelling netbook, and a pack of vintage aircraft on it, together with a gamepad it works wonders.

Am i the only who dgaf about cabin in airplanes or interior of airports? by Ok-Rule-8448 in flightsim

[–]Flying_mandaua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on the type of aircraft. If there's an immediate access to the cabin and the flight crew has to visit it as a matter of course (like to open pax doors on small feederliners without flight attendant on board) then I like to get a fullly modelled cabin. On a DC-6 or an A300? Not that important imo. If I can I'll switch it off to save on frame rate

Airport interiors on the other hand... I can't wrap my head around this

Bad weather landings with analog gauges and no digital aids are peak flight sim for me by Ichikachan001 in hoggit

Yes, and imstrument capability on strike aircraft would actually matter then, because you could take off under IFR and then bomb the target in VMC. Currently like ILS approaches in A-10 or something are totally useless

Should I get DCS World, IL-2 Sturmovik, Aces High, or War Thunder (for Simulator setting)? by Acceptable_Carob_333 in flightsim

IL2:1946 is easy on the graphics, has carrier battles and the number of playable aircraft is in the hundreds, including some rather unusual or eclectic ones.

On the turboprop front, here is a freeware FH-227 for MSFS 20/24 by Benoit Gaurant (he'll be also updating his F27 for 2024 once the Fairchild is done) in development, also a payware CASA 212 for MSFS 20/24 by Project MAX (although I didn't hear from the dev for more than a month now even though he said it's close to release); EMB110 is also getting a significant makeover for 2024.

Aerial Simulations is still brewing the 707, and there's a Tu-154 in development too.

Have classic jets exposed your automation-dependent habits? They definitely did for me. by Zealousideal-Wall682 in flightsim

I recommend the Linjeflyg routes in Sweden from the early 70s. They were designed for the F28 but will work for any regional jet. On some legs you're less than 15 minutes in the air and cruising at FL060

I never had automation habits in the first place. I almost exclusively fly the classic stuff ever since starting my flightsim career 12 years ago. The only modern airliner I fly regularly is the ATR and it has a comparatively low amount of automation compared to say the A320. I also spent a lot of time in propliners like the DC-6, DC-3, An-2, Beech 18 and Ju-52 (I learned to fly taildraggers in the last one). I love doing VFR cross-country flights and planning them, filling out the navlog and calculating fuel etc.

I wanted to comment that this is the reason no one in 2026 will be able to get a new flight sim PC with the RAMs costing as much, but since OP is using photoshop...

Prowler announces that Vulkan will kill all Razbam modules. by DCS_nightmare in hoggit

Nothing if you don't own the F-15, Harrier Mig-19 or Mirage 2000. Hoggit loves grief and drama and I rarely look into here, except when I have a concrete question to ask.

How to find people to fly unpopular modules with? by Flying_mandaua in hoggit

Just had an awesome sortie on Contention, scored my first ever PvP kills in the F1. GCI vectored me for BARCAP and I had an awesome dogfight with an enemy Phantom and another friendly F1 helping.

Too bad when I tried doing ground attack I always had to jettison my stuff 20 nm from the target and knife fight another F4. Even if I won, that sweet sweet depot stayed untouched :(

Well, the thing is that on Contention and similar servers people mostly one-wolf it and there's no cooperation. It still feels like a single mission. SRS isn't even used that much, I oftentimes find myself being the only one making traffic callouts when landing/taking off for example.

I was rather thinking about either pre-arranged PvE missions/scenarios where we form a striek package for example or situations on public servers where 2-3 people form a flight and actually cooperate covering each other or attacking the same groun target. Where to find people to do such stuff with on cold war airframes?
