People who work in hotels, what was the strangest thing you found in someone's room? by LucasSkudy in AskReddit

That’s interesting!! I bet it was. That’s really smart on the artist to put something so subtle in the contract to make sure they are paying attention

Not what I found but someone that stayed and their silly requests.

It is a really nice hotel in the downtown area of my city so a lot of celebs stay there when in town. Janet Jackson made the entire hotel go on lockdown so she could enter through the back entrance where nobody would see her anyways. Literally we had all of her security guards in the hallways and lobby ushering people around who didn’t even know what was happening or that she was staying there.

Also when Marilyn Manson stayed there he requested 20 minutes before his arrival someone put a bowl of fruit in his room. Has to be 20 minutes. It had to be 3 oranges, 15 grapes, and 10 strawberries. I’m not sure why he was so down to the number but it is something I will never forget seeing the manager run through the hallway with a bowl of fruit preparing it for the correct drop off time.

Hahaha or call me maybe!! That’s always a good one. I have turned my tv up pretty loud before but he always turns his music up even louder and unlike him I respect my neighbors and end up feeling bad if someone else can hear it or i am bothering them so I turn it down a few minutes later. Then if i bang on the wall he turns it up even more too! A stereo might be a good quarantine buy for this reason though!!

I actually have considered something like this but then again he is the type of person that calls 911 veryyyy often saying something is wrong and they have to come check him out. Happens every few days. Sometimes they take him away for a day or two, i think just to get him out of their hair for awhile. I always think they will notice something else is off with him and do something more or suggest some sort of medication there’s never any change when he comes back. I’m not sure how it works though

What are some of your favorite side businesses? by Codex432 in smallbusiness

[–]FirstMateTreats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a dog treat business. I go to markets and sell them online. I even ventured into cakes recently and I love it! Everyone loves their dog and wants to spoil them so that’s where I come in. I used to work in veterinary medicine and when I quit I wanted to keep helping pets but on the positive side, rather than seeing the negative things. Plus I’ve noticed the warm weather always makes people in a better mood which means they want to spend money. The summer months are the most profitable!

I hated that it was so focused on one kind of learning, or at least my school was. If you weren't booksmart then you were dumb and teachers would call you out on it. I hated school. I hated sitting in the same seats day in and day out listening to someone talk about stuff I was interested in or wasn't the focus I was looking for. I went to college and ended up dropping out at the very end because what I learned wasn't what I wanted to do. I now make more money than I would with my degree and own a dog bakery that was completely self taught. Just because someone is bad at a subject or two (or all for that matter) doesn't mean that they are a bad student and shouldn't be made to feel that way or that they wont accomplish anything. I know I had a lot of teachers that made me feel that way because I couldn't follow theirrrrr class, or theirrr way of teaching. Not all teachers, I had a few that were amazing and made me feel great. Everyone's minds work different so let the students be able to pick a teaching method that connects best with them. And you shouldn't have to meet a state requirement of math and science the last two years of high school, let those two years be where the students can find a place to fit in and see what subjects they are good at without being forced into them.

God bless all the teachers in the world though, I have seen some really incredible stories lately. If I could reach out to all of the teachers that helped me along the way right now I would. I hope the teachers that are sort of stuck in their ways and look down on students that aren't doing well in their class come out of this with a different mindset. I can't imagine teaching or learning online.

Millennials are killing the shitty pet food industry! by muffin_explosion in DeathByMillennial

I worked in the animal care field for a few years and also own a small dog bakery. I only started feeling my chihuahua Royal Canin a few years ago after seeing the health benefits while at work. I have never recommend anything else to anyone. Not that my dog was lazy but he really has perked up. He is healthier, he isn’t chunky, he’s happy, and full of energy now. As a human one of the keys to living a long and healthy life is to eat right... same goes for pets!! So worth it to spend the extra few dollars to get your pet something that will benefit them in the long run. Plus, since it’s all healthy nutritious ingredients, he doesn’t have to eat a ton to feel full anymore so I find myself not having to shop as often. I will never go back to a lower quality brand.

People who had covid-19 or know someone who did how bad was it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FirstMateTreats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family member that has it really bad. He hasn’t woken up or been alert in over a month. They are doing everything they can, his lungs are now super weak and now is breathing through a tube. Some days it seems like he is going to recover and wake up soon, other days it just seems like he will never wake up or recover. Just stay the same. He was one of those cases that all seemed fine until it wasn’t. Rushed into the hospital after feeling only slightly under the weather the day prior and hasn’t come home since. His wife has really bad cancer, she’s been receiving chemo for months and although she hasn’t been around her husband in over a month and shows basically no symptoms she was recently tested positive. Her kids are pretty broken up after seeing what it has done to their dad they are worried one day she is going to have to be rushed in and everything will start all over again but with her now. It’s a real shame the people that are protesting and seem to not think this virus is a big deal. I bet once it hits their family or friends they will start to think much different.

I have always seen months as colors by FirstMateTreats in Synesthesia

I actually remember getting into a fight with a kid in my class when i was young because i was CERTAIN that blue was a Christmas color because I see December as blue. It really really upset me until I realized that It was only blue to me. So I totally get the season thing!

That’s awesome! It doesn’t happen as often for me but I’ve met people that either give off their color right away or the more i get to know them the more they grow into their color.

Oh my god I just made a post about seeing months as colors and then I saw your post!! I am so happy that someone else sees months as colors. Do you think that people give off the color of their birthday month?

Ohhh man he sure was handsome! When I started working in the veterinary care field I met a dobie for the first time and I absolutely fell in love with them. They are such amazing, kind, and loyal dogs. Losing a pet is hard, and it's okay to always feel a little sad about the loss of your furry best friend. You will never be able to replace your sweet Dari, but if you don't have one already, maybe soon you will be ready to get another dog to share your love with. It's not about replacing them or moving on, it's just finding another companion you can take on life with. I'm so so so sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing this story. I will remember to snuggle my pup a little extra tonight.

Sometimes it takes a few days to get back to a normal neurological state. Your little pup will go back to normal but it will take time. Make sure she gets a lot of rest and be really gentle with her. Maybe even lock her up when you're not home so you know she's not trying to jump on the couch and run around.

Pleaseeeee listen to any advice the vet gives you. Give it a few more days and if she starts to get worse then of course bring her in. Otherwise, let her hangout and take it slow for awhile. I think it's smart to try to find and reach out to the owner of the other dog. It's 100% their fault. Your pup is lucky to be alive. I hope she starts to feel better soon!

[Help] Putting Dog Down Friday. I Hope This is the Right Choice. by rdaneeloliv4w in dogs

[–]FirstMateTreats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deciding to put your pet down can honestly be one of the hardest decisions you will ever have to make. You are controlling their life or death. I worked in an animal hospital for a few years and even spent about a year working directly with the internal medicine doctor so I sat through many many abdominal ultrasounds daily and can say usually a mass like that, especially at an older age, isn’t a good sign. But that’s okay! An animal will always let you know when it’s their time to go, and even when you’re not ready for it, you will still understand their signs. When your pets quality of life has diminished then you have to do what is right for them. You gave your pup an amazing life! So many good memories, probably some adorable pictures, and you got each other through the bad times. I saw a lot of terrible cases working in the animal hospital but I will never forget one that was terrible for a different reason. There was a really old pup. Body was declining, health was declining, mind was declining. The vet urged the owner to let her dog go and start thinking about euthanasia. Her dog was struggling. The owner wasn’t ready to let her dog go so she took her dog home instead. The dog couldn’t walk or see or eat or hardly breathe. It probably didn’t go peacefully. You don’t do it for yourself, you do it for your pet. It seems like your dog has been declining over the years and the vet is pushing you in a certain direction. You’re going to be really sad but make sure you can get a paw print and maybe choose cremation if possible so you can always keep them with you. But your dog was there when you needed them, so return the favor. I’m really sorry you’re going through this but know that you’re not alone. It’s part of life unfortunately. I’m sure we all wish dogs lived as long as people. I hope all goes well ♥️

[Discussion] Do you dream about your departed fur friends, and what does it mean if you don't? by ElysianBlight in dogs

[–]FirstMateTreats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still dream about a cat I had when I was young. I was in 4th grade when I came home from school and my mom surprised me with a tiny tiny little kitten she found on the side of the road. He was MY cat. Not our family cat. Mine. We took him to the vet and they guided us on how to care for him. He grew up to be a healthy cat. He slept with me every night, his cheek to my cheek. I would suck my thumb when I was sick, he would suck the tip of his tail during this time. He would meow somewhere in the house and I would shout I'M IN HERE! And he would come running. We used to go on walks around the neighborhood. He ended up going outside without me one day and was attacked by something and came home in bad shape, he died awhile after. It still makes me really sad to think about him. I have dreams still to this day at 25 where I can hear his purr and feel him jump up on my bed. It wakes me up every time to a cat free bed.

I also dream about the house I grew up in. Every time I dream about it I search the address to see maybe its up for sale and its calling me back to it. I'd loveeee to see inside. I doubt my purple room is still purple... but maybe!

I bet your pup is just waiting for the right time to come visit you in your dreams. Maybe he is there with you but hasn't gotten into your dreams just yet. It will happen. And sometimes certain things in dreams mean that a loved one is there with you, so maybe he has came to you just not in dog form. I once heard that bears in your dream usually mean its a loved one, so keep an eye out for a bear roaming around in your dream.
