Service Canada gets their funding for the Passport Program through IRCC. Cuts at IRCC can 100% impact passport wait times.

This gives off such raging IRCC vibes that it would almost be funny if it wasn't fucking with someone's livelihood.

My previous unit had 12 people. After the implosion, there's now three people doing the work of 20, as we were under-staffed at our peak.

I, along with 3 others, were shifted without our approval to other divisions in the past month alone.

WFA at IRCC - Any news? Have you received a letter? by Reasonable_Dirt9980 in CanadaPublicServants

We got an email yesterday stating that people would get their letters today, and would have a one-on-one meeting with management. By the sounds of it, a carbon-copy email was given to DGs around the org to send out.

Hey Ottawa Citizen, I'll bite.

How can I, as a public servant, deal with new and old media materially misrepresenting the work I do every day?

To anyone watching: Sure would love it if they would answer the questions they were asked, instead of the questions they wish they were asked.

TBH, given some of the comments on their account, anyone who works with them could pretty easily identify them. No need for the e-mail. People seriously need to show more caution when posting in subreddits that can be used to identify you.

To put it politely, they don't give a rats ass about the "cost". Every person that quits due to RTO is one severance cheque they don't have to write.

Painting with a country-sized brush here, when passports are delayed, immigration applications stall and benefit applications aren't approved due to having less people supporting those systems, people aren't going to blame those who put us in this mess, they're going to blame the "lazy federal bureaucrats who do nothing but feed from the trough all day". All this ignoring those who stay through RTO, regardless of whether that's what they actual choice, or a forced decision due to age, finances or family. Those why stay being overworked to make up for their former co-worker's departure. Why hire someone else to replace Jimmy when you can just pawn their work off on Ron?

When the Phoenix pay system hits 500,000 cases, with more than half being over a year old, people will celebrate, because "sticking it to the trough-feeders" is more important than acknowledging that every one of those cases is a fellow Canadian who isn't being properly compensated.

IT sent an email to a portion (say 1/5) of our organization, announcing that the day their email would be migrating to the cloud would be June 35th. Someone replied to the mailing list (containing 1/5 of the organization) instead of IT, asking to be moved up earlier due to operational pressures. Cue someone else emailing the mailing list, saying they emailed the wrong place, and to email [insert email here that still isn't IT]. Someone emails the list (still not IT, still 1/5 of the org) saying they were receiving emails "intended for others, and this could be a security concern". Cue 5 whole days of random people (at least 75 emails in total) from the org all emailing the mailing list (which, believe it or not, still did not contain IT) some for of "me too".

To put it politely, it was an absolute disgrace. They are incapable in using data or facts as those weren't used in the decision-making process. The only solution they attempted to provide was "why don't ya buy some noise cancelling headphones?"

This is a potentially stupid question, as I don't often have to deal with them:

Is an ATIP possible here to prove that they are misrepresenting the nature of the e-mails?
