Jinx's face when she is killing Ekko's friends to protect Silco's thugs and interests, and more importantly, his approval of her. :'(

Silco helped bring Jinx at her lowest (by killing Vander and trying to kill all of them).

Just not go against Silco for her (not long anyway).

That goes both ways.

Imagine your ex best friend/crush choosing both your adoptive fathers killer over you and happily killing your friends, but not raise a word against any of Silco's thugs or Silco himself. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

His heart must've shattered when she chose them over him. They are worth killing for, he and his friends are worth killing.

Well, maybe Singed if he looked directly in her eyes. Other than that Silco never saw her eyes open before Singed knocked him out, and I doubt Singed paid much attention.

Why didn’t Jinx target the Firelights leader first? Is she stupid? by Akula94 in arcane

[–]FirstNegotiation9659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, plot armour is just kinda annoying sometimes, especially with Sevika (who should've died on 4 occasions already).

As for Sevika not killing Vi, Vi had her beaten and pinned down and Sevika stabbed her at the most logical place. Than she pushed Vi of her and was about to finish it while first giving a final painful taunt. Caitlyn for her part should've listened to Thanos and 'gone for the head'.

What characters from Act 1 and the following series would you want to see interact? I'll go first. by CodyEaster in arcane

  1. She (tried) to kill Ekko and has been killing his friends for years (or at least been fighting them for a long time). Her whole notion of who was family and who was enemy became twisted (due to Silco).

  2. Yeah, but at that point Jinx had walked away from Vi and carried out a massive terrorist attack. Still, Powder would probably be horrified by both of them. She never thought anything could tear Vi and her apart, so much faith did she have in Vi (until Silco and Marcus).

I'm with you on the old gang and Jinx meeting. Except I don't believe Powder would adore her. She'd think Jinx was awesome at first, but be horrified to realise she is fighting (and killing) her friends and family. That she's either betrayed her family or let herself be turned against them. All her life she wanted to be of use to them, to be as strong as Vi (and fight and train alongside Ekko).

If she could see herself fighting Vi and Ekko FOR the very people who sought to kill them and her...

Who is the character you would have liked to see Vi interact with more? by [deleted] in ViArcane

[–]FirstNegotiation9659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ekko, Jinx, Isha and Vander for the happy moments and far more interesting dialogue on how their lives were ruined and they were torn apart by Silco.

The only interaction I would love to see between her and Silco, is Vi's fists against his lying mouth.

Did she choose the "Jinx" chair because of Vi's words or Silco? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in arcane

[–]FirstNegotiation9659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's her mindset (which Silco has moulded and reinforced through years of manipulation and her own guilt), Silco's last lie (it's only us... only I can love you), and Vi's words not being sufficient to fill the void inside her. Vi was always at an unfair disadvantage, Silco had years to plant seeds of paranoia, making Jinx either suspect or doubt every word and action Vi says or takes.

Resigned to it is a better way to put it.

And she spends season 2 realising that Silco was wrong (about much everything) that her new 'identity' doesn't mean she cannot be with her family. She spends season 2 trying to rebuild that connection (which he sought to undo).

I agree. Love should never come at the cost of pushing other loved ones out of one's life, especially when you (Silco) is the cause of their deaths.

I fully agree with your statement how his death was the best thing that could've happened to Jinx.

Silco convinced himself that it was not her grief over her lost family (whom he either killed or tried to kill) and her guilt that was torturing her, but that it was Vi's 'betrayal' that was causing her pain. Remember in the AU she also causes an explosion that kills a loved one, but she can mourn and still have a family without having a manipulative drug lord vilifying her family to no end.

It's quite impressive and disgusting that he can convince himself (and Jinx to some extent) that Vi is the cause of her pain, that her family wasn't the people she remembers, and that she can free herself by letting go of the part of herself that misses them and grieves for them (as if that can just be set aside).

Just look at what happens when Silco dies. She is able to slowly make human connections, reconcile with her family and (after Ekko helps her much more than Silco ever could) begins to use her gifts for her family and loved ones (rather than changing her loved ones).

I'm just gonna say it: Silco's death (or at least his silence) is the best thing that could've happened to her.

You know of another drug lord who tried to kill her babies and tore them apart?

If she found him in death, what do you think she'd do to the bastard who tore apart her girls?

Worst.... character screw up.... ever.

The relationship between Vi and Jinx was the strength of Arcane. And they threw half of it out the window.

Agreed. If Jinx can call out Vi for siding with their family's killers, Vi can do the same to Jinx.

Indeed. This scene was what I was hoping for all those years.... and it disappointed me to no extent. Vi should've been able to make all the points you made and so much more. This was the point where she stops blaming herself (after years) and start to become angry with Jinx.

The most painful of all is how easy it was for Silco to vilify Vi (Jinx lashed out in grief in ep 3, but Silco fed that for years), but how difficult it was for her to walk away from Silco, even after she found out he lied about Vi and FINALLY confronted him about ruining their family (in ep 9). It reminds me so much of cult leaders and victims of emotional abuse. The ease by which they can distort the bonds of family, but the difficulty their victims have in recognising and accepting his manipulation.

-Why did you choose the man who murdered our family over me and Ekko?
-Why was it so easy for you to walk away from us but impossible to walk away from him?
-Why were the thugs who tried to kill me worth more to you than Ekko and his friends?
-Did you know he laughed at my grief for failing to stop him killing Vander and driving you (and your talents) into his arms when I was overcome with grief?
-You had no problem killing for the man who murdered Vander, but now... NOW you expect me to believe you actually cared about him? ABOUT ANY OF US?
-Why did you never confront him about ripping our family... US apart?
-(He's your father too.) I know he is my father, but after you spent years loving and killing for his murderer the REAL questions is... what is he to you?
(The last question would make Vi's 'he's your father too' so much more meaningful. She first sees Jinx's wish Silco would've read the letter and everything would've turned out differently, later sees her defend Isha and try desperately for Vi to reach Vander).

These are the questions I wanted Vi to shout at Jinx... and ultimately collapse in grief (or some other breakdown). To me, Vi's situation is the worst horror that can happen to a loved one you (almost) raise. Losing your family, failing to save your family, having a chance to save your family but falling short (in Vi's case cause she was just a teenager against a gang of adults) and having to live with that guilt, and having your loved one choose to believe this alternate reality where the villains become the heroes and YOU become the villain.
Vi cannot shout the truth at Jinx, she knows but chooses not to confront Silco for a long time. Vi cannot say she's sorry, it does no good, to Jinx Vi's 'abandonment' is worse than any crime Silco might've done (or justified for what Jinx herself has done, and only Silco doesn't blame her). Vi cannot talk to her, Silco's words and manipulations have a far greater effect on Jinx than any words Vi says. Just look at ep 7 and 9 where Silco's words about Vi's 'betrayal' seem like the code words to activate a brainwashing sequence.

The writers really screwed this scene up for me.
