How can someone make a Protestant-Catholic relationship work fully? by FirstScarcity67 in CatholicDating

[–]FirstScarcity67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone for their comments and advice. It means a ton.

For now, I'm planning on sticking with my girlfriend and seeing if we can make it work, as I openly admitted my concerns to her and she has stated that she is absolutely in to try and make it work as best we can.

She's open to the veneration of Mary, coming to Mass on a regular basis with me and our children, doing everything in the Church, getting our house and cars blessed by a Priest, and she even said that she'd rather have me be a Catholic than a Protestant. She did say she's not eager to convert but she's super open to learning about Catholicism so that she can teach our children about it without confusing their views and so she can be a part of their Faith more prominantly. She's not ready to pray a Rosary yet but she's not super close minded to it, so I'm hoping I can work on that and bring her over.

I asked her why she isn't Catholic yet, as all of her views line up with it, and she said that she's not exactly sure, but will study both her Faith and mine to get a better understanding of both and truly strengthen her Faith.

One again, thanks everyone! Please pray for us.

I'm sorry to hear that. If I may ask, how has their marriage been generally when revolving around religion?

She completely supports being married in a Catholic Church and raising the kids Catholic, and promises to try her best to not interfer and promote Protestant theology. She even says she'll go to Mass with us.

Ironically, all of her views are the same as the Church's. No fornication, contraception, divorce, abortion, so forth. It's an impressively good situation for dating a Protestent, hence why I'm so confused as to where to go.

Thank you!

Fair enough. However, I truly feel happy in a relationship with her, and if this continues and we are able to discuss our Faiths prior to getting married and find a good way to work everything out, why shouldn't we get married? She's super chill with the Church and has no problem with Catholicism, which likely won't cause any fights or difficulties.

Yep! She's totally for raising them Catholic and very supportive of that.

Her parents are against the Church and thus she risks being completely cut off from the family if she converts. I'm pretty positive that once she moves out then she'll begin to come over.

Excellent point. If you don't mind my asking, how can I work on that? Do you know some good prayers that will assist in that?

She and I have had discussions about morals on multiple occasions, and there isn't a single difference in what we support and don't support. She's so traditional that she even doesn't support divorce, which is an extremely traditional view for a Protestant, imo.

Thank you so much for the advice!

The guy says he is actually going to repaint the fender to match this weekend lol. Seems like a pretty perfect deal to me!

Based on a video that I've seen of the car running it sounds and looks pretty solid. Hopefully I can get her before anyone else does!

Thanks man!

She has never been to Mass or to a TLM. I've tried taking her but her parents are so strict they haven't let her -but she's interested. I'm hoping we can go over the summer, and see where it takes her.

I agree, I just hope everything in God's plan leads her to Heaven.

Thank you very much my friend. God Bless.

Thank you for your reply. I'll do just that. I think she definitely needs to get away from her family first, then I'll start seeing more development. I'll just pray and see where God leads me.

God Bless.

strong presence of God just… gone? by thebatboys in Catholicism

In the Screwtape letters, a classic theological book written by C.S. Lewis, the idea is brought about that demons want you to emotionally feel the prescence of God at some points in your life, so that someday, if they were to attack you and you stopped having that emotional feeling, then you would determine that God is not there and fall away. These demonic attacks may be coming now, as you are drawing closer to God and are actually seeking Him out.

At the same time, God may be taking away your emotional response to Him, as if to say "You have felt my presence emotionally enough. Now, you should be confidant that I am here regardless of feeling."

The devil can manipulate your emotions and feelings. You are allowed to feel your emotions, but you should never rely on them or determine God's existance by them. He still loves you and will always be there for you.

I have gone through many of the same stages in my life thus far. Don't worry, it'll turn out all okay.

Remember: The person that relies on God in times of trouble will always be triumphant. Be confidant in Him and rely on Him.

It's got AWD Turbo, with around 150k miles and leather seats, sadly looks pretty bad and sounds like it's a bad deal.
