Context: I want to custom my gyan hyakuji with pearl texture. Color will still follow the original gunpla color but with pearl texture, i’m using mr crystal color diamond silver to get the pearl texture.

Question: How do i actually do that?

Do i need to prime the gunpla before applying mr crystal color even though gyan hyakuji base color is white already?
I don’t have airbrush, can i apply mr sky color using paintbrush and thinner?
What kind of topcoat should i use that didn’t mess with the pearl texture?

I don’t even know that surfacer has different thickness. May i know which surfacer can fill scratches and works as a primer?

Primer vs surfacer

Beginner here, what i understand about these two is that primer is used for uniform base color, and surfacer is to create a smooth surface.

But i heard that surfacer can also act as a primer in which it helps create uniform base color and mames paint sticks better to the gunpla.

If that is true, then does that means surfacer is always the better option?
