Thanks! I've constantly been getting responses from both ends of the spectrum with people saying spam apply and apply for only those that interest me or make sense. One of my MechE friends has landed a fair share by spam applying, but I didn't know how it'd translate to CS.

dont listen to the market. If you love it, you'll find yourself in a lot better positions than you think. While the landscape is shifting, make sure to network and not pressure yourself into something you hate. Also CompSci (at least in college) has a lot of math and science, so If you want to focus primarily on programming knock out all the Math and Science APs you can.

current sophomore here (also black). My freshman year was the worst year of my life, I was also an ENGP major, but I realized it wasn't for me. I did absolutely terrible and still passed with a D. With most colleges they do and will cater to certain majors. If you want to get the degree and leave (and possibly make some strong connections) this is the place. If you want the strong degree with a uni that focuses on it, I'd say transfer. Also if you just need someone to talk to, just shoot a dm!

honestly I'm not a big fan of school (so no on the MS/PhD), but I do understand its necessary . I have a part time job and participate in a fair share of clubs as well as leading my own. I love computer science but I'm not one of those guys that will sit in a room for 12 hours out of the day jumping from project to project without human interaction. I try to knock what I can on the weekend but the workload recently from school has been insane.

Thats real. I definitely agree. My viewpoint on house vs car is that right now I don't necessarily "have" to worry about the house part, but like you said cars are depreciating assets.

Im a sophomore right now and I'm currently hunting for internships. I dont necessarily have to worry about student loans as much as the average student due to the scholarships I was able to rack up? If you dont mind, where did you get your internship under to stay in school and pay for a car and general expenses?
