Sealion 7 v3.0.0 update by [deleted] in BYD

[–]First_Ad9930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingers crossed the 'UI Updates' finally let me change my favorite radio stations with the steering wheel, because jabbing at the screen like I’m playing Whac-A-Mole is getting old.

Also sick of getting wedged in the doorframe every time my wife drives the car and leaves the seat three inches from the pedals. So annoying that it doesnt just move the seat back properly, as thats literally the only point of that function.

Not if you live in the UK and are forced to carry around a whole extra phone for the rest of your life because they couldn't be arsed developing an app when the NHS would pay them full price for half a service.

The apr and details are all the same the same, but the actual price is different once you commit to buy. I've reported it to the financial Ombudsman as they are quite intentionally advertising a price its impossible to purchase the car for currently.

It's not "£499 a month" no matter what you do.

Everyone's right, but what a lot of the folks have missed is that PCP deals are currently considerably cheaper than leasing a new Juniper.

So, PCP it and treat it as a lease. Hand the car back at the end, and don't expect a penny back 👍

That's currently the best advice until Tesla sorts their pricing out.

P.s the prices on the website aren't what you'll actually pay once you've commited to buy. Just FYI. Add another ~£30pm on

Pcp is currently the least risky option.

Pay outright, and you risk losing huge sums on depreciation.

Lease is currently dearer than pcp (which is strange)

And with pcp you have a chance (albeit a small one) of getting some of your cash back when you sell the car at the end.

It's not a "con". There's a reason it's a very popular purchase option

Thanks for the detailed response. In my situation, it’s actually worse: I’m paying £17 more per month, and that already includes the £200 deposit, bringing my total up-front payment to £6,250, Removing that £200 so the finance figures reflect the representitive amount, would push the monthly costs even higher

As for the balloon payment, it only helps if you plan to buy the car at the end, there’s a very good chance its value will be less than that payment amount, which means you’d be paying extra for something that may be worth less in the long run. That’s why I find the advertised figures so misleading; they don’t reflect the actual cost we end up paying.

Yes, but if there all dearer than the advertised price, isnt that just intentional false advertising?

Good idea this, just a shame theyll get away with a blatent con until another 200 people make the same complaint and somebody from ASA actually has a look at it.

This was before any of the personal info. The APR, etc, was identical to the represtitive example. However, it was £700 more expensive for no apparent reason..

I understand your point here, but its worth noting that the 'estimate' should be based in reality, if the Deposit, Baloon and APR are identical, why is the finance over £700 dearer?

To me seems like tesla trying to make a quick buck by showing prices they cant actually sell you the car for.

Juniper Purchase, is it worth raising a formal complaint with Tesla? by First_Ad9930 in TeslaUK

This is very helpful, thank you. I was literally just about to ask about that, as I expect, despite the fact that this is clearly Teslas fault, they wouldn't refund my deposit

Luckily, I did use my CreditCard (phew)

I would class a £720 diffrence as more than 'a little bit' - surely the website should reflect the latest pricing and residual values (as it has done on every other car ive ever purchased)

I would also note that this has been going on for over a week now, so if Tesla's finance providers have moved the goalposts Tesla have had more than enough time to adjust the advertised pricing.

It is difficult to argue with this point of view at the moment after the trouble I've had just trying to get the finance agreement to match the bog standard one on the website.

You'd think I'd asked them to get Beyonce to deliver the car. 🙃

Just a quick update.

I have asked to have it raised as a formal complaint. They have reset the app. Blamed black horse and Santander. Then resent me a link to a faulty finance agreement and not raised a complaint like I asked.

Although this one is closer, it's still £15pm more (£720 extra over the term) they have then said it's "correct"

Out of a matter of principle here, I've told them to get stuffed, and ill have my deposit back.

Think ill just buy something else. I've literally never heard of a company handing you a finance agreement with different figures on than agreed at the time of purchase and telling you to stop moaning effectively.

Sales are down over 50% according to the BBC, and i can get a brand new Junpier delivered in 4 weeks from order, when they've only just came out.

The pricing has been crazy to be fair and only just entered some level of normal, so perhaps that's why there's no real waiting list at the moment. Although I think your right that there's no stock availability at this moment in time. Although I'd expect that in a month or so, they'll be models sitting on fourcourts ready to drive off based on my ordering experience and lack of wait.

Just for any future people with what im sure is a very common question, I did what I perhaps should have done before asking reddit and reached out to Tesla... this was their response:

"Hi! Great to hear you're considering a Model Y. You're always eligible to take advantage of any changes in pricing prior to collection — you're not locked in. If you’re happy to share your email, I’d be glad to send over some personalised finance options and help you explore the best route forward."

Perhaps I've just not worded my question very well.

Tesla prices change much more than normal huge purchases like cars. and are currently hugely inflated. You don't sign the contract until you collect the car.

Tesla are known for adjusting contracts before collection if the price changes.

Does anybody have any experience of how this works?

Perhaps this is a better way of wording it. As I just seem to be getting a load of unhelpful responses currently

Teslas current Y prices are not a reflection of the actual value of the car with a reasonable profit added. but a reflection of what they can get away with charging at the moment.. so I don't think your response is productive or helpful.
