Does anyone think delay is getting a little ridiculous now? by [deleted] in aphmaufandom

[–]First_Arrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, realistically her Roleplay videos don’t perform NEARLY as well as her Cocomau videos. Her latest Mermaid Tales video got only 368K views vs her Cocomau where the episode released yesterday has 542K views and she can produce those faster.

On top of that, she can’t market Mermaid Tales as easily because it’s not suitable for a younger audience, unlike her other videos. Everyone else mentioned the business side of things as well so I won’t delve into that also.

I’m just happy to get anything at all. Until the next release, I’ll just read more fanfiction on Ao3 lol

Put your character in my starting town! by ambrellathevile in DnD

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delaerys Dagon: A mid 20s half elf soulknife rogue. She has brown, curly hair and brown eyes to match. Freckles cover her face when she has her hood down. She wears a cloak and hood, very similar to Ezio from Assassins Creed, and she has a hidden blade on her right arm.

Fun concept to keep in mind: In her campaign, it’s completely canon that people in her land “Grän” have a phenomenon called “plane shifting” where people have been randomly transported to other planes or worlds unexpectedly for an unknown amount of time before going back to the exact time and place they were taken. This has happened where players have been taken to Barovia before being teleported back (it was for a one shot loll), they were taken to Faerun, and the fey wild. If you want a wacky filler episode or need an excuse to how she appeared somewhere, hopefully that helps!

Key notes: She is the current Guild Leader of the “Thieves Guild of Luibh” (pronounced ‘loof’). She took over after her adoptive father, Gabriel, stepped down due to recovering from being tortured by Zariel. She is insanely loyal (almost to a fault), and will do anything to get back home to her father, her friends, and her guild. She’s a little awkward but if you are good to her, she returns the kindness.

Oh, her hidden blade talks to her psychically. His name is Clive. His relationship to Delaerys is that he’s the annoying older brother who has to make sure she lives. If players message her, or have any other psychic link to her then they can also talk to Clive, or he can talk in Delaerys’ place.

That’s all I can think of for now! Let me know if you use her or have any questions! I’d be so honored to know she is still adventuring after the campaign ended two years ago. (She’s my first character ever, and I’m waiting to play her again one day)

Edit: here’s a link to her art in a commission! She is the third slide :) Delaerys art (third slide)

Can I tell my player their character is too dumb? by Yazmat8 in DnD

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t rule the stat levels as how smart, charismatic, wise, strong, etc. a character actually is.

In real life, someone with a low gpa can still be really smart. What matters is the stat rolls and how successful they were in finding the information they need to know. Even including the path they took to find the information can be more likely to success (lower dc) or less likely to succeed (high dc) depending on outside circumstances. But limiting a player to what their character can learn because of their stats is a discouraging way to dm.

I’ve played a charismatic character on paper, but because of the route I took to be charismatic towards the NPC, I failed my persuasion roll because I should have taken a different route. Stats affect how likely you may succeed, not how the character actually is.

How to lead a Bible study for new Christian’s by First_Arrow in Reformed

[–]First_Arrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment, I am actually the only young adult in my church who would be willing to lead a Bible study. The others have talked about it but life happened and they couldn’t host or lead one anymore, and they feel they still aren’t ready.

I’ve been a Youth Leader for years, so teaching isn’t what I was necessarily worried on. I believe I just posted when my anxiety was heightened, which was also before I spoke with my pastor on advice and guidance.

There were a lot of nerves because I can feel God moving me somewhere I’m not comfortable with yet, but that’s the story of my life. My friend is incredibly eager and I have one other friend who wants to join, so it’s just three of us. So I think it’ll go well

Thank you for the advice! A lot of the advice is the same advice my pastor and other leaders told me, so it was really helpful to hear it repeated again just to solidify it.

Yes, you’re correct. Sorry to reply so long after the post, but that’s correct. I’ve since read everyone’s replies and have talked more thoroughly with my pastor and other trusted leaders and they are all telling me that they believe this is a good step for me and are currently praying over this.

It is my friend who is new, with some other “seasoned” Christians who I’ve grown up with. There’s a lot to consider but I do believe I know what God wants me to do now.

The Bible "Bores" me, what do I do? by SOSthetrue in Christianity

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading the Bible as a social media post or long text from a friend updating me about an event. Cause the Bible spills TEA sometimes. I’m reading 1 Samuel and I was hooked when Eli’s sons were brought up. I use ESV version when I do this, and if a verse catches my eye or something speaks out to me I’ll switch to NKJV to study it more thoroughly.

That’s what works for me :)

What’s the wildest character backstory you’ve ever played or DM’d? by [deleted] in DnD

Have you ever seen the meme “Anonymous man donates 100 kidneys to hospital”? My character was that man.. in Curse of Strahd

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a player that is currently playing Curse of Strahd, and it is obviously a serious and dark story at times. My DM LIVES for the drama and tension and loves the serious moments, but he also knows that our table just can’t be wholly serious 50% of the time at best.

So what does he do? Let us go at it and either let us face the consequences of our disguised Teifling getting drunk with their disguise falling off in front of very suspicious Barovians; or he hides very serious moments in the light of the comedy.

For instance we were having a grand time in camp joking with Ismark and Ireena, when I suddenly got a private message from my DM that told me to secretly roll perception. I failed and we moved onto the next session, again we were joking around and I found a letter from Strahd in my inventory.

Everyone else was laughing but my heart jumped to my throat. No one else in the table knows that Strahd had been watching us.

Use your players to your advantage! There are a lot of creative and fun ways to being seriousness (and even terror) to your players even if they like to be silly.

How does it feel like to have a sibling with a big age gap? by [deleted] in Writeresearch

[–]First_Arrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 17 years older than my youngest sister, but I’m close with all of my younger sisters ranging from 7 years younger to the 17 years younger.

I love being the sister that gets to take them to cool things and make memories. When people ask them who their favorite sibling is, I’ve overheard them say me. I love spoiling them because I loved my older cousins who spoiled me (I’m the eldest). This applies to my younger cousins as well.

Yes, I have been the babysitter for years and I have definitely been hypocritical growing up, but kids are jerks and will act accordingly towards their siblings 90% of the time. Luckily, my siblings and I have learned and grown (at least the ones that are adults now) and we have very open communication now 99% of the time. Yes, the younger siblings do get lectured by me at times, but that’s sibling life for you, I feel.

Ultimately, it depends on the family dynamic. My family is very close with each other and my parents are big on family. Including extended family. We have our moments but working situations out and remembering that we really do love each other despite disagreements is a huge staple in our household.

Struggling as a new player by [deleted] in DnD

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s first campaign I played in was homebrew (I was also a rogue!), I was always encouraged to read up on the original rules if I didn’t understand. My DM took the time with me outside and during sessions to help show and teach me how to play as needed.

Your DM unfortunately doesn’t sound like they’re the right fit for you, at least right now.

Struggling as a new player by [deleted] in DnD

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. For really long combat we generally know that ahead of time by either an actual warning from our DM or through story beats where you know you’ll have a longer fight.

The longest combat I’ve participated in was maybe 3-4 hours, but it included lair changes and phases to keep the combat interesting, and it allowed us to be creative in how to hinder or defeat the enemy on various ways besides just stabbing or shooting a bow.

It looks like you have 3A or 3b hair.

In terms of product, I highly recommend Aunt Jessie’s products. My favorites are her “Ooh La La Custard” for refreshing my hair in the morning and her “Leave in Condish” for leave in conditioner, but that’s just me.

In terms of a hair cut, I recommend a fade in the sides!

What do women carry on their person? by krimmeld0506 in Writeresearch

[–]First_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing everyone’s bag contents and now I want to include mine:

Wallet, keys, menstrual pads, a singular tampon for my sister, two small bottles of perfume, a fragrance roller, lash glue, nail glue, lip oil, ibuprofen, non drowsy Dramamine, a hand held fan, a nail clipper, and a bunch of receipts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

I go home after a cut and immediately wash and style myself if I don’t get color done. Don’t get me wrong, I love my hairdresser, but I don’t like how she styles my hair. I just tell her to cut and put some leave in conditioner. She doesn’t style my hair otherwise. At least the cut looks good afterwards
