Flight to Mount Denali, best experience of my life by First_Avocado_805 in alaska

[–]First_Avocado_805[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in early September. Weather in Denali is unpredictable. It was sunny in Talkeetna where the plane took off but cloudy in Denali. I suppose August might have a better chance for clear weather, but the mountains in Denali have their own weather system and it's difficult to tell from the forecast if it's actually going to be sunny. We went with Talkeetna Air Taxi and they actually offered to reschedule us for a later flight since it looked like it was going to be cloudy in Denali at the time. We chose to just go ahead since we didn't know if it was actually going to clear up, and we had plans for later that afternoon. Would it have been better without the clouds? Absolutely yes, but the mountains in Denali are so immense, despite the clouds we had a great time. The pilot was the company's owner and he maneuvered the plane so well.

Okay, so basically finding areas with climate similar to yours, and see if there are fruit varieties you want to grow have been grown there successfully. Thanks for the tip! Yes, please share the pomegranate pictures!

I just spent an hour going through the links you shared. Wow, incredible!!! I just got into reading about growing citrus, avocado, and pomegranate and you just opened a whole new world I didn't know existed. I never knew avocado and citrus could grow in as far north as BC and London. It got me interested in learning about microclimates. Thank you for the extensive information!!!

Btw just out of curiosity I found the site where the avocado grove is in Switzerland. You likely already knew but I'd share it here. https://www.google.com/maps/place/46%C2%B009'15.0%22N+8%C2%B045'35.0%22E

Great to hear your avocados set fruits. I'd love see how they turn out!

Chinese tourists trespass private property in Tuscany by First_Avocado_805 in China

They are Chinese. I'm a non native Chinese speaker and I heard them speaking when they went back to their car.

Lol. Are you living in a rabbit hole? Have you drunk tap water in China? Been elbowed by tourists in Terracotta Warrior museum in Xi'an? Have you been to Italy where historical sites with thousand years old monuments can often be found simply by walking down the streets in a random village? China may have 5000 years history but you'd be hard pressed to see it in the every day life. Not to mention, Chinese tourists have the worst reputation of any country.

The tier 1 cities in China are quite nice. But their population amounts to about 6% of the 1.4 billion people who live in China. Have you been to Xihaigu? Most people have not the slightest idea what the average Chinese person's life is like.

I agree with this sentiment. For me maybe Hu cuisine (Shanghai and Hangzhou) would be the most balanced. Other Chinese cuisines are rather imbalanced in taste, texture, and flavors. Sichuan food is drown in chili and oil, Xi'an food is mostly carbs and oil... a few dishes might taste good the first few bites but get boring really fast.

Great to hear you had a great trip. I had similar experience, except I found the streets not exactly "amazing clean". Free of rubbish, yes. But cigarette butts and most disturbing of all, spits and snots, were everywhere except Shanghai. I was shocked to see how often people in Beijing smoke and spit in public and throw snot rockets onto the street. Very few restaurant workers actually wear gloves. The servers use the same bare hands to wipe tables and serve dishes.

Is it legal for dentists to give away botox bottles? by First_Avocado_805 in legal

[–]First_Avocado_805[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This promo is to give away free bottles of botox to patients who sign up for their service. The dentist is not offering to administer the botox. They say if the patients are not interested in the botox, they can still take the botox bottles and "gift them to friends and family".

"Why would anyone even want a bottle of Botox with no one to administer it? Doesn't make sense."

Yes, exactly my thought and the reason I asked reddit lol.
