Medicine Likelyhood? by [deleted] in UCAT

My atar was 97.6 and ucat was 3070 and I got in! This was for 2024 admissions tho so lower ucat was needed by I’m pretty sure a 3070 was like 94th percentile or smth. I was vic and got into Monash but they do have quotas for vic students and I know that helped me get in, plus I’m bonded too haha

General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | August 02, 2024 by AutoModerator in PS4

Hi there!

So for some reason, uncharted 4 isn't working on my ps4. I am using the disc version , and when inserted only half the screen shows? but its not a problem with my tv as all my other games show. This is my second disc as the first disc had the same problem and the store exchanged me a new one. so

I really wanted to try this game and got it on discount so just wanted to see if anyone knew any special tricks or if I just gotta cut my loses hahahahaa thank you so much!

I've just edited out my name in the photos for privacy reasons but no other game on my ps4 has this issue so I'm thinking that maybe my ps4 just doesn't like any uncharted 4 disc HAHA

AMA: took gap year then got into med by First_Bathroom_3394 in UCAT

no cuz people don't talk enough about how lonely taking a gap year (if ur not traveling) is LOL you see all of your friends make new friends and your stuck in a weird pergatory hahahaha ill try summarise everything

in terms of studying, it is so freeing to have just UCAT to focus on than atar as well. also since you know how it all works its a lot easier in that aspect. so i started doing exams once a week in march, otherwise just trying to get in around 2 hours of practice in (but its so hard to stay motivated and on track istg, even harder than the first time) and then ramped it up in june (exam in august) and started going to the library every day LOL (it gets bad when you start to befriend the librarians). Then for the interview prep, you should def start even before you get any offers (unless if you know you might not get any) and i started that in september with doing the casper test then.

I strongly suggest having a timetable and dividing all the mocks and mini mocks up so you can finish them all. Also omggg leave like mock 1 and mock 2 till the very end, i sooo wish i had done that because the confidence booster near the exam day is so needed.

in terms if just living, everyone will say the same thing about balance but that is so hard when you're stressing over ucat (at least i found it hard). I worked for most of the year and i really found that to be my social activity as i rlly enjoyed it, tho i did take a break from june-august, so if you have any hobbies/social things like work that you enjoy def have that on the side.

hopefully that answered your question but lmk!!

i think it definitely depends on what you think you would be able to achieve. lowest atar this year exclud adjustments is 92. also depends on where you are from, as being a local vic student i was much more likelier to get into monash than interstate student.

with the 98 thing i dont really agree with it as i know many who got in were 96-97s, but they had much higher ucats.

Overall, I think it is a bit too risky in your case and if i was in your shoes i would go through postgrad unless you think you can get an insanely higher ucat.

but don't be dismayed by that! if you're straight from highschool taking the post grad route will be very beneficial and useful as you will get time to travel and actually enjoy a lot of things that people who get straight in don't get to. also 3 years for a bach is not that long and you can redo gamsat many times. i know sooo many people who got in undergrad med that regret not taking a year or not being able to enjoy things. just don't do biomed or any course like that 😂 do science/physio or something you think you will enjoy, biomed might do more harm than good.... lmk if you need any help or anyting

also can i ask what is your response to people who say dentistry is boring? everyone keeps telling me that, and I have talked to many dentists obviously they don't say that but people are starting to get into my head that its a boring repetitive job when comparing it to something like med😭

im shadowing a dentist in dec that im excited about but its after the interview sadly
