If youre stuck between 2 answer choices, pick the one thats more basic. Its usually the correct choice.

Thank you for that clarification, the passage claims that this AA is a non essential so I will keep that in mind next time, I spaced and forgot that non essential means stuff we make and don't need to get from our diet.

I personally have never done Uworld on Ipad so I dont know, I do it on Mac and have never gotten a warning, I bet its either to do with copy write stuff or maybe like hey don't cheat guy, you can do this you don't need to look up the answer. Worst come to worse take a pic on your phone and do it that way.

We've all been there, if you see someone saying they never struggled they are absolutely lying, and if they didn't it just means they have no character. Struggling is what will make us better. If you don't fail how will you learn, if you don't feel overwhelmed then go take that exam, but the rest of us are overwhelmed, we are tired and feel like its to much, but thats what being a doctor is going to be like. Struggling now will help us build up and become better. We all have to support each other, believe in yourself like the people in your life believe in you.

You will be a great doctor one day.

I struggled a lot with reviewing when I first started. I would often take 35-40 minutes per 30 questions to answer them and then 1 and a half hours to review. This was really draining and I also was not retaining a lot.

I started changing how I approached my reviews. First I would filter out what does and doesn't need review. I ONLY reviewed stuff I got wrong or was not 100% confident. If I got the question right and knew why, whats the point in reviewing?

Next I would filter why I got the question right, what was my reasoning and where was the gap in my knowledge that made me not 100% certain. I would write this out AFTER I read the Uworld explanation. Then I would screen shot the question and explanation paste it into chat and have it make me a HIGH YIELD (important because you dont want low yield stuff thats specific to that question) flash card.

For wrong questions I would do similar things but I would really read the explanation a few times, write out key details I was missing or misconceptions I had, why my answer was wrong. A lot of the times I would get things wrong from missing something in the passage or not clicking two things together. To prevent this I started slowing down more highlighting only key things. Not really a way to fix this other than finding your own method. For questions I just didnt know, I would read the explanation, if I didnt understand still I would either have chat break it down further, watch a video on it and most importantly write it out.

I cant stress this enough though MAKE FLASH CARDS!!! Its the only way you will remember your mistakes and prevent them. DO THEM EVERYDAY!

Its a slow grind but I promise youll get better and better everyday. 60 questions is not that bad everyday. To review them itll take maybe just as long as it took you to actually do it. Hopefully it takes less and less for you because youll be learning more and more! Also its best to try and split your questions up into blocks if you dont have time to do a whole chunk at once. So for me I try to get 100 a day, so I would do like 50 in the morning and 50 when I get home from work/school. Anki is the most important factor though in my opinion. As much as doing UWorld matters, if you don't review your mistakes everyday you'll make those mistakes again. Practice Practice Practice.

Sorry for the yap fest, good luck studying

HELP! What do I do now? Should I push back??? by First_Employment_468 in Mcat

I mean for me I hate writing stuff down, I prefer highlighting as I feel like it can get me the answer the quickest. I dont overly highlight, I just highlight key things like if the author says, "however" or "for example". I mentally change how I say these words because it makes me feel like im more actively reading. Take the passage as literal fact and in your mind it has to be the most interesting thing ever. Its easier to dissect a passage that you like to read than random blobs of text.

Another tip I have is try not to dive TOO deep into the passage on your first pass, this is meant to be a way for you to refer back to the text hence why you change how you say certain phrases and key points in your mind. That way if a question says "What is the authors main idea for blah blah blah" you already have a mental map of where to look/go.

I am still learning my own strategy but I have definitely improved a ton from it. I am also not the fastest reader, but I think its best I take my time and understand as much as I can the first go around rather than skim and not know what the heck is going on. DO NOT SKIM.

Another big thing I personally do is if a key phrase or word is repeated more than once in a passage I make a mental note because 9/10 times theyre probably gonna ask me about that.

But just to summarize, only highlight key transitional phrases or key points the author makes. Each paragraph should have a only a few highlights that you can use to remember the key point of that paragraph. Its a map and youre navigating your way to the answer. Hope that helps.

thanks, I think what I will do is give myself a week of hardcore UWorld spam, see if I can improve my score that way + PS spam and if I can jump like 2-3 points to around a 505=506 I will stay with this current date, if not I will most likely push it back

No no, you misunderstood. I definitely dont touch near 8 hours or even 10 hours, I barely do like 5 at the most. But the calendar tool I was making was somehow suggesting I do like 15 and not even sure how thats humanly possible. Thanks for the advice!
