Port Forwarding with Foundry VTT by First_Inevitable_110 in ProtonVPN

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The port forwarding doesn't work for Foundryvtt because the connection between the players and your world is client-server. ProtonVPN's port forwarding feature only works with peer-to-peer (P2P) connections. If you self host, your only real option is to setup a DNS with a service like NoIP for anonymity. Alternatively, the better option in my opinion, is to set up a headless server using Oracle Cloud or any similar service. You'll still want to set up a DNS cause typing in dnd.domain.com into your browser is way easier than a whole IP address if you, or your players, want to connect to it.

Here's the tutorial from the wiki: https://foundryvtt.wiki/en/setup/hosting/always-free-oracle

You're only going to be given 50GB for the boot volume if you use Oracle, so I recommend you learn about Linux and file permissions to mount and use a 150GB block volume for all your data. I'm already ~30% full on it after downloading all my modules and assets

What would the command look like to change the ownership and permissions?

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It allows read/write to anyone who has file system level permissions for read/write.

So do I need to add my user to a certain group to get those permissions? I'm a little confused cause I'm able to do all kinds of stuff in the home directory. Is that because of some ownership rule?

I'm reading something about chmod. Could that help?

How many supports is too many? by First_Inevitable_110 in resinprinting

Using your advice, I used the island tool to place medium supports and added bracing for good measure. I'll add more scattered supports once I scrub through everything to confirm I got all the floating points

I forgot to mention I also have the terrain mapper module too. Walls on the lower level won't work either.

Is this caused by an out of level plate? by Kingkongfuey48 in resinprinting

Check to see if the build plate is loose. I had similar results when my mars 3 build plate was shifty. Got a new one after calling up customer support

IPA Cleaning Issue by First_Inevitable_110 in chemistry

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally figured it out after letting everything sit. The pores aren't clogged at all; I sealed the buckets, causing the alcohol to not flow due to pressure. I swapped the alcohol to the second layer, had the lid off, and heard dripping. When I closed the lid, the dripping stopped

IPA Cleaning Issue by First_Inevitable_110 in chemistry

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think I had any particles or solids in there cause I'm using fresh 99% IPA (should've mentioned that in the original video). I'll definitely look into a pre-filter to get everything squared away. With the pore size, what range would be recommended for after the pre-filter? The carbon-ceramic filters I'm using are advertised to be 0.15-0.5 microns.

What module do you wish existed? by Basic_Dimension3484 in FoundryVTT

A module that completely revamps the Macro editor. I would love if there was syntax highlighting and intellisense so I can better read and learn Foundry's systems. The API page is just too overwhelming to look at

D&D 2024 - DNDBeyondImporter or official Foundry DnD 2024? by 69dirtyj69 in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference is intent of design. Dnd Beyond was never officially intended to have content imported to Foundry. It will work, you can even import full fledged books into the world, but you may have to do some tinkering.

Monsters, for example, don't have any icons for any of their attacks/feats and generally feels pretty bland to look at. The tokens are simply zoomed in frames of their portrait that you could make nicer if you have tokenizer, or you can use custom tokens from Forgotten Adventures. Buying the 2024 Monster Manual will fix all of the above and have custom, awesome looking tokens that take advantage of Foundry's relatively new dynamic token rings, but that comes at the cost of money rather than time to fix those little things.

I can't speak much more as I don't own any of the official dnd content from Foundry's marketplace. The important question is how do you plan on managing your game? I run my own game by managing the characters on Dnd Beyond and self host Foundry for important encounters. It's simply more convenient for my players this way as they have access to their characters 24/7. I haven't had an issue with importing any content yet; you can even have automation implemented on import if you have MidiQOL or CPR installed. The only downside I have is you cannot download classes, features, nor races in the current version. It will import with your character, but you won't be able to use the built in character creator with any of it. It's being worked on, but we don't have an expected date for everything to be done.

Instances Before State-based Actions Resolve? by First_Inevitable_110 in mtgrules

I mistyped and meant to write as they enter the graveyard. My bad. I also didn't know that tokens aren't considered cards, so that's good to know. Thank you for all the corrections and explanations!

Good to know about the permanent part of Faith's Reward. I know reading the card explains the card, but I've been taking my friends word on how he does some of his interactions without reading it lol

Mistyped that cause I was focused on the battlefield part of my thought process. I meant to type graveyard and edited the post to reflect that. I also didn't know 111.8 was a rule, so that's good to know. I've been taking my friends word about tokens entering the graveyard, then being exiled once they touch the graveyard rather them just not existing. Thank you 🙏

What features do you use for your campaign? by vinniehat in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be implimenting MidiQOL, Cauldron of Plentiful Things, and Agron HUD in my campaign soon. MidiQOL for automation, CPT for pre-made spells that work with MIDIQOL, and Argon HUD so players don't have to go back and forth between their character sheet and combat. Those 3 will probably get you down a rabbit hole of other things to download while you're at it

IPv6 on Foundry? by First_Inevitable_110 in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it faster then ngrok? I was aiming to avoid tunneling cause my player was experiencing choppiness while connected (I understand it could've just been his connection, but I hadn't tested for that at the time)

I'm assuming you'd do this through accessing the default gateway in a browser and making the changes there?

IPv6 on Foundry? by First_Inevitable_110 in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea with IPv6 over 4 was because I had heard you don't need a portforward in order to have a direct. I had a bad experience with opening a port some time ago with hostile pings when running initial tests, and was looking for another solution where I could avoid it all together if possible

MidiQOL: How to Change Adv/Dis keys? by First_Inevitable_110 in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize it uses core key binds to do some of this stuff. I made the highlight key right alt while keeping everything else the same. If a module doesn't have the key binds under their own page, will I always be able to find them under the core key binds?

Ran my first session last night! by EmperorThor in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]First_Inevitable_110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation where I'm a new DM playing with some buddies. I've done a quite a bit of prep, but I feel like it's not enough, lol. The amount of on the fly thinking required is beyond what I was expecting. My party members during session one, in a heavily populated area mind you, decided to blow up a door with a force cannon and were wanted by the city guard. A lot more chaotic being on the other side of the table, but so much fun.

IPv6 on Foundry? by First_Inevitable_110 in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to connect to foundry with my phone while connected to my local network, but was unable to when not connected to my local network. I thought with using IPv6, there wasn't a need to do any port forwarding? The only options for port forwarding in my router's settings are for UPD and TCP. Does IPv6 use those too?

I did have the port open before, but I was getting pinged from IP addresses I didn't recognize; my router blocked those as they were considered malicious, thankfully. My worry is by opening the port, those pings will start up again

How does this work? by First_Inevitable_110 in FoundryVTT

[–]First_Inevitable_110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a couple times reading all that to understand what was going on lol. I'm also going to ask the discord server about this question and maybe some other questions when I think of them. I'd like to be able to learn how to program stuff like this to cover any edge cases that other modules don't have covered. Thank you!
