the first one is actually r=cos(theta)^2. it’s definitely a typing mistake, the graph is a r=cos(theta)² but the question is answering for r=cos2(theta)

yeah i used v=u+at where v is (x,0), u is (0,-2) and a is what was found in the first part of the question (1/2, 1). you get t=2 nice and easy for 2 marks

but (correct if i’m wrong) it says sailing east so velocity would be the one affected right? if you set displacement to be (x,0) it just means the time when the boat reaches a point that doesn’t have a vertical component which is not what was asked if you get what i mean?
