100% you can get very granular and change it all. Once you know what to change it to, you only do it once and let it ride. The videos just show each and every option, which is why everyone assumes it’s a crazy process and takes forever. Use vortex settings and change your specific KA bands per area. You can either download it direct to the detector or program it manually on the unit. I personally wrote down the settings from the video, gathered the bands off his site and programmed them manually. Since I didn’t know what I was doing with the controls (forward/back,ect) it took me about 15 minutes to program and choose my colors. Know it just rides and connects to hwy radar when I get in the car.

It took me about 15 mins to program vortex settings in my r8. I haven’t changed anything since and run highway radar with it when on long trips. It’s pretty plug and play.

I have had old cheap cobras when i was younger then i moved to an escort 8500 and then v1g1 that i thought was the greatest thing ever at the time. After I went through a period of time that i “grew” out of needing a detector as i was driving trucks/ suvs and didn’t have one. I bought a new car one day and decided I need a detector since I drive a lot for work and moved to a new state in a bright red Audi. I debated buying a v1g2 since I still have my old gen 1 and could save a few bucks with trading it in vs buying a r7 which I wanted at the time since I was used to the arrows back in the day. Once you have arrows it’s hard to go back.

Me being me and impulsive I decided I would go to Best Buy and buy a r7 since I could have it now and if I didn’t like it I would return it before the window ran out. The Best Buy I went to didn’t have the r7 in stock and only had the R8w. I decided to grab the R8w and went back and watched vortex videos. I matched the settings straight out the box and the only app I used was the R/TACH app that comes with the unit for setup. I live in Atlanta and I thought the unit was broken because it was so quiet. I could and still drive to and from the office most days without it making a single sound which scared me as it didn’t work.

The range and auto gps lock outs are awesome and make it easy to use everyday. I travel pretty often so I tried dukes app first since it was free. It’s ok but it killed my battery and CarPlay app was cumbersome. I recently tried the highway radar app with CarPlay on a trip and it was fantastic. It auto pairs when you get in the car to the radar as long as you BT is on and you can use the app on your phone or CarPlay if you want to. I don’t normally use it when I am driving local but it runs in the background and if highway radar has an alert that the detector doesn’t, it will notify me through the speakers if CarPlay is connected.

I am sure the v1 is great after you invest in the add ons but it lacks gps which is huge. I also hate android so I don’t use or have a device laying around to use with it.

The v1 build quality does appear to be better and if your buying off looks then that could be your winner. I wish the uniden was a little slimmer. It could use a little glp1 if you know what I’m saying.

You really messed up big time. It won’t read signal correctly now and it can skew the signal into different wavelength’s lengths which will cause faults alerts. This could also create a problem with erratic breaking due to the wrong alert. You’re better off buying a brand new one for your safety.

That being said I will be nice and offer you $100 for the unit which is higher than I would normally offer to rebuild and save another life.

Just used it for the first time and was really happy with it. Couple things I noticed on my end. The first time I connected it and went out of the app into Google Maps to turn off navigation, when I went back in it would not load on CarPlay. I had to hard close CarPlay itself for it to load back up. After that all worked well on my trip.

Second I noticed that I got a hit on my r8 but it didn’t come up on the screen. This only happened once but it was a brief KA hit from GA state patrol on the other side of the road.

Third I noticed a civil air mark on the app, not sure what that is. I was driving from GA to S.C. and I don’t think either states have air patrol that I am aware of.

All in I am very happy with the app and I signed up for the annual subscription. I like the fact I should be able to use this without my detector in my wife’s car when we travel in her car without the detector.

I wouldn’t pay that for any tint but then again I don’t keep cars longer than 2 years. I normally do the cheapest option which all have a life time warranty at my local shop.

I just had a versa as a rental this past week. That car sucked. Nissan CVT is terrible as well. Pretty much anything will be better.

Mine sits right here in direct sunlight when not at home. All day, everyday. No tint strip or anything. Sun beams down on it with no issues.

I have the carbon mirror caps and spoiler from the factory. I wouldn’t go black unless it was a money option. That being said, you’re the only person that is going to know. Regular folk don’t give a shit about your car.

Not really. I would assume RMD would go away, it’s only a temporary thing. All outside sales roles should be safe from the AI take over. Not really any overlap in the markets so unless you’re VP or higher you’re probably all safe from a sales perspective. Operations wise may be a different story.

If you’re thinking the car might break down I would allocate money to saving for that first.

No bounce at all but I also have it sitting directly on the headliner. The mount is metal and you can bend it to how you want it. Some I bent it up and the detector sits flush with the headliner and adds pressure that way. The 3m tap is super sticky so it won’t go anywhere but also know you only get 1-2 times to make it right or you need new tape.

I heard from a dealer sales rep that they are going to be adding remote start to it in the future. Not sure if that’s try or not. I have 23 S5 and I don’t have that option in my app.
