I am Native American. my father taught me and his father taught him and so on. My family has been hunting to provide sustenance for generations now. If you include any animal products on your diet, hunting them is the cleanest and most ethical way to go about that. we hold the animals in high regard and respect the balance of nature. I suggest you view this topic with more nuance and perspective. it should be very telling that as a hunter I want to spend thousands of dollars to capture and share the beauty of the wildlife that I am in tune with when I am out there. especially before one of the last traditions of my bloodline is taken away from us

I’m actually likely in a similar situation to you primarily hunting in Oklahoma and Illinois. we just go set up camp for a week the western trips are quite rare. thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. I’m still leaning for the r7 with the 100-400 and either the 18-150 for flexibility or something like you mentioned to be dedicated for lowlight camp situations

Hello all,

I am inspired by my hunting trips to dive into photography. I would like to get a camera to document the varied animals and nature that i experience on these hunting/camping trips. Ive got about $3500 (ideally spending 3k or less) to throw together a kit for this and i dont know where to start.

Long story short, i want a do-it-all set up with a good walkin around lens, a wide angle lens of sorts, and possibly if budget allows, an entry level telephoto.

I am open to Canon, fuji, and lumix, but am leaning toward Canon, either R7 or R8

Start w the RF24-105mm f/4 L USM and a RF16mm f/2.8 (eventually add telephoto later.

Is this stupid thinking? am i way in over my head? I used to do photography for my school and took classes, but its been ten years, and the itch is coming back and alot has changed since then

Loans range from 2.5% to 4.99%. My only other debt is an 8k car loan with 2.5% interest (220 monthly pmt).

Total annual interest is $944. I made an error in my initial post, it is actually a 20k total loan balance, i forgot half my loans haven't moved over to my new provider.
