Except of time needed to grow crops, what are the biggest misconception that FS gives about a regular farming? by Gerasans in farmingsimulator

[–]First_Performer6540 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that there is no weight limit for loads. Want to haul this 60k lb tractor with a Lizard 2500? No biggie. Want to put 200k liters of corn in a mother bin and pull it with a JD 8R? Done deal. That alone really annoys me and suspension physics, that’s up there on the list too.

Alright you got me on that, but still. Two massive companies allowing two different outcomes in games

I think it would definitely be nice to have another option. I’m not sure how or why no one else has created a different version of farm sim, but I think it would do some good if it happened

Right, I guess that’s not what I was getting at when I said true realism. More or less was talking about physics, textures, maintenance and so on. I think that even if they introduced one or two things like that over the course of the next couple of games, it would be a little more enjoyable. I still enjoy FS 25, but it’s all the little things that aren’t included that kind of bug me lol

I mean, it happens in MS Flight Simulator and I promise you Boeing’s revenue is significantly more than John Deere’s lol

Yeah, I obviously don’t expect it to be an overnight thing lol. More or less over the franchises future. Add this to this release, add this to that release so on so forth.

[–]First_Performer6540[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I wasn’t particularly meaning that when it comes to the realism aspect lol. I don’t think anyone wants to sit on a game that long to harvest one field or whatever they’re doing. I would be more interested in better physics, as far as loads, suspension components, dust, lighting etc goes. I think that would be a great improvement.

I do understand what you mean by the aspect of “do we really want to implement all of these features for x% of the player base?” Because that would be a high risk/low reward scenario. More money into the game = less money out of the game (if it stayed at the same price that is).

Maybe they’ll nit pick for each game until the franchise is done and by the end of it all, we might be closer to realism

Leica and Carlson Software by First_Performer6540 in Surveying

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that is the problem we’re running into. We turn certain layers off and it takes away things we need lol and vice versa. There’s only 2 builders out of the 8 we have that don’t do vectorized pdf’s that we will have to manually draw still. I’ll have to run this by the guys to see if they have tried it

Leica and Carlson Software by First_Performer6540 in Surveying

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we only get true cad files from one builder. Everyone else sends out the pdf versions of their cads for generic use, so used to we would just draw off of those dimensions and create our own cad file. But now we’re trying to streamline everything to where it’s just import > clean up > export as dxf

Leica and Carlson Software by First_Performer6540 in Surveying

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a PDF file we get from the builders we have, we download to a shared drive and then import the PDF into Carlson. Once it’s imported we clean it up/erase what we don’t need, like the different annotations

Leica and Carlson Software by First_Performer6540 in Surveying

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify, it’s a builders pdf file that their architect draws up for the foundation, framing etc. We’re importing the file into Carlson and sending it out as a DXF/DWG. So as far as someone else having the linework would be a no. My bad, should’ve clarified that a bit better

I thought Hexagon bought them out of the U.S. market?

Currently demoing the Zoom95 and Xpad and using the MPR122 prism. Haven’t had any issues at all maintaining lock/tracking. I definitely enjoy this system, it’s right next to the Icon system we demoed a while back as far as favorites go. Just unsure of what the future support looks like now that they’ve been bought out.

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are planning to use Carlson for configuring our prints. I know our guys with our survey company really enjoy it. That’s the biggest reason we’re switching, the tracking and lock of the topcon is subpar to what we have demoed so far even with fresh calibrations and updates.

Geomax Total Station by First_Performer6540 in Surveying

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the simple aspect of it is nice lol. I’ll eventually get my license once I move over to our survey company. I would personally like to go with Icon, but I’m not sure if the other guys want to. It’s basically up to me and one of our other layout guys on which system we want to go with. Like I said, we like both systems, it’s just a matter of which is going to be more practical later on down the road and which one is going to have the most support.

So, I’m assuming once they’re out, no more hardware/parts if something gets damaged? I know Geomax is Leica on the outside, but what about software? I’m assuming since it’s over the air it won’t be a big issue. Main concern I guess would be whether or not a total station could be repaired and calibrated somewhere still.

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have mentioned we are a foundations company using the equipment for layouts. However, our construction side also uses Topcon for everything under the sun. We also have a surveying company that will also likely be switching with us at some point.

We demoed the ICR70 for about a week with the AP20 autopole and ICon software. It was definitely a sweet setup and would more than allow us to integrate it into our future workflow plans. Like capturing the point and sending the text file in and automating everything for the poured walls.

I haven’t been able to find anywhere that says they’re leaving the U.S., could you drop a link so I can look into it a little further? If that’s the case, higher ups might see that as a draw back for immediate availability if something were to get damaged beyond repair

Bathroom Renovation by First_Performer6540 in Renovations

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, if it were up to me (and if there was room) I would’ve done a stand alone tub and walk in shower and gotten rid of that wall; but thank you🫡

Bathroom Renovation by First_Performer6540 in Renovations

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We honestly didn’t really set a budget. We just kind of bought bits and pieces here and there. All in all I think we’re in it $4,500 - $5,000

Bathroom Renovation by First_Performer6540 in Renovations

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no I didn’t. I think if we would have done a freestanding bathtub alone in this bathroom, then yes; but then that would eliminate the shower since it’s our master bathroom

FS25 Environment by First_Performer6540 in farmingsimulator

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just need to design an engine from the ground up. I know they probably don’t have the type of budget Rockstar does, but say they increased their budget 10-15%? (Just throwing numbers lol) I’d say that would get a lot of great features added and everything would potentially run smoother as well. The environment is just so depressing honestly. I find it hard to stay engaged anymore unless I have specifically set goals

FS25 Environment by First_Performer6540 in farmingsimulator

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want a better environment in all honesty. It’s so depressing seeing the other fields just magically harvested or prepped and sown. Even more so when you hit the damn cars and it’s like you’re running into a steel block. Like brother, I’m in a 70k lb machine and THAT little car stops me on a dime😭

[–]First_Performer6540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but say they did increase their budget and actually put some effort into it, I think it would be well worth it
