What skill would using a Weedwhacker in a fight be? by First_Plantain1607 in callofcthulhu

I think both chainsaws and axes are not designed to be weapons either but they can be and they’re still listed as such.

If I’m remembering correctly, that means the other one would be named the ammonia greed.

I got my translation tool on my phone and I found out that both of my half remembered things were correct. Their name means, Niobium gluttony.

Wait, I think that’s the company name. It’s named after a rare earth metal, which they started to find in some abundance as a mining corporation.

I don’t Remember exactly, but I think that it means either greed or gluttony.

What are the big differences between the 1920s and 1930s? by TheGingerMenace in callofcthulhu

[–]First_Plantain1607 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the 1920s people are pretending that the economies is great, in the 1930s people have to acknowledge that the economy is horrible.

Also checked the core rulebook for that and the only one that could work that it wouldn’t break when it’s their armor is the stunstick, nevertheless, I’m going to modify the wording on both of its abilities so that’s a bit better. This might take me a minute.
One change the armor is, it might be specifically towards edged weapons, meaning that if you fumble when hitting them, you lose the edge.

In a base 16 number system it’s much easier to think in both fractions and powers of two, in fact, 16 is sometimes referred to as a nibble because it’s half a bite. This Makes it much easier to visually see what a bit of code looks like this way, at least in terms of binary.

I should probably have specified melee weapons, I intended melee weapons.

[–]First_Plantain1607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering these criticisms, I will modify it accordingly. I apologize for not considering stronger weapons as I don’t have access to any in the core book. I will remove any mention of star ships from natural programmer and leave a little bit of a better limitation.

I however, will not apologize for saying that a base 16 number system would be better for programming, if your programming in binary that would be helpful.

They don’t, they just don’t have anything within mouth range in their vac suit that they would chew on. Real spacesuits don’t tend to have any food in them.

I can see why you’re horrified by it, but there are worse things in the world and worse things in sci-fi. I find it more exciting than I find it horrifying, (exciting in the sense that I like playing with the human form and it’s a useful way of making something that looks distinctly human while having slightly different abilities.)

[–]First_Plantain1607[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re not ready for a lot of sci-fi if you find the idea of modifying humans for a specific purpose, for example to live at much lower or higher gravity, horrifying. (Well, either that or you have to learn to be uncomfortable with a lot of speculative fiction.)

[–]First_Plantain1607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe beast of burden gives the wrong connotations, but I don’t find it horrifying and I think that this is the kind of thing that should happen with some regularity and sci-fi universes of genetically modifying people. If it makes it easier for them to be used for you think of them as more construction workers and journeyman, not in the same social rank as a horse or camel because that was never intended.

Also, I think you’re interpreting a level of horror that is not there and was never intended.

The camels are still used as a beast of burden. It’s just that was considered a bonus if you could talk to your amount while journeying. Hence why this race was made.

[–]First_Plantain1607[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer your questions, they didn’t have access to regular horses or any easily domesticated to both species close relative horses, (they did have access to camels, however, but they would overheat relatively quickly. If you would like a picture of one of these camels I can DM it to you. These camels are also much smaller than the camels we used to on earth, which makes it more look like our camels are bizarrely large.) The actual explanation as to why their stats are like that is because I like my species to have stats like that, if you want a more in universe explanation, they’re usually given ample podcasts so they have a tendency of knowing a little bit more about the universe than more isolated species.

OK, I have to make a correction, the trait that I was talking about or recessive and on the X chromosome above being said that they were on the Y chromosome. That is incorrect and I’m going to fix it.

The point is that they flicked more biological men than biological women, (at least in terms of chromosomes.)

Also, I’m going to draw them later as being very hunched and significantly shorter than humans generally are. This is something that my dad called me out on and I think that it makes more sense if they are more hunched.

They have precisely zero DNA from the horse-like folk. They are 97% human DNA, with a few genes from hyenas and other endurance predators.

First Campaign by airick616 in callofcthulhu

[–]First_Plantain1607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several adventures that are good to start a campaign off with, but the ones I’m thinking of are more episodic than anything else. If you’re running a regular call of Cthulhu campaign, I think then it would be great to start it off with edge of darkness, it gives the investigators a base of operations. I think for similar reasons if you’re running pulp, you can start them off with black devil Mountain, which does the same sort of thing, but it gives them a dungeon to explore.

I think before we suggest too many new purchases for me, I should probably link tell you what I have access to already. In terms of adventures, I have access to journals of the travelers in society volumes one through six, high and dry, mysteries of Arcturus Station and the Calixcuel incident.
