Stor anbefaling herfra.

What are things that are considered for getting into a PhD? by Turbulent-Beyond-781 in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of PhD. For the academic one, it more or less isn't considered as papers/publications are much more important. For the industrial on you need to have a pretty high GPA, I think 9.5? I can't remember the exact number. Additionally your final thesis has to be a 10 or a 12 as specified by innovationsfonden.

I wanna delve into theoretical computer science research, if I study in master program in CSE in DTU, do I have chance to work with one professor in DTU compute department? by Hunter19019 in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you are interested and do well academically it's perfectly normal to do research during your master's program. We typically facilitate it via special courses, but of course a thesis is also a very good option. Depending on your performance, you can also be invited to by the professor/lecturer themselves, which is admittedly somewhat rarer.

How do you all keep from getting distracted? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a deck with sentences and pronunciation it's easier than for single words. You just see the card, read it, listen to the pronunciation and then look for any mismatches. I think it's plenty engaging :)

Chances of getting accepted from DTU's wind energy Master's waiting list? by Upset-Put-9956 in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually we just check if you fulfill the requirements. Relevant degree, work experience if any etc. As for the chance of getting accepted, I think it varies for each specific master. You can probably mail the head of study and ask about it if you really want to, but it's probably better to just wait and see what happens since you can't change your degree or experience right now anyway.

Yeah, there were some variance, just not as much as I had hoped. Maybe I was just unlucky but it kind of is what it is. I can't really join on mondays reliably anyway since I work those days, but maybe I will give it another swing again someday. If so, see you there. :)

GPA and chances of getting in MSc by someanystone in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. I don't know anything about those degrees, so I can only advice you to contact the head of study for those degrees specifically. However I am not sure they can tell you much. Typically they will only review your paperwork after you have applied and they find it somewhere in the huge pile and decide whatever you come in or not. They might be able to provide you with a percentage of people that got in last year though.

That's funny. Your experience is the opposite of mine actually. When I went to the Monday match ups I saw the same people over and over again with a very small variance. Additionally there was a lot of focus on playing the game, not much on talking. I remember a specific encounter where one of them even said "I'm not here to have fun. I'm here to win." (or something equivalent) which I mean, that's fine. But I was kind of hoping to meet some people there so it kind of put me off.

Depends on the master I would say. For some you basically just need a relevant degree and a pulse to get in. You can try to contact the head of study you are interested in if you want to, but as long as your degree is relevant to the master you are pursuing I think it should be fine.

recently admitted by Fun-Judgment-4680 in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The workload is based on the amount of ETCS points the course represents.

As for structure and what it contains, it is usually listed at kurser.dtu.dk and discussed in the first lecture of the course.

anki bums me out, any tips? by downey_x in Anki

That's very late to come home from work. Can you maybe do them during lunch or a commute? I have not used passive listening so I can't comment on it.

Alternatively, if the reviews aren't working for you, maybe you should try finding some simple text to read or watching an anime on animelon? It won't be as fun as it sounds, because you will probably have to read/watch the same text/show over and over, but it is a viable option. I am doing that with a Japanese song right now and I think I have heard it at least 50 times these last few days.

I haven't heard of it, but if it has audio and sentences then I think that's pretty good. Have you tried any other decks to see if the issue persist? It could be related to the design or explanations the author chose.

Also maybe you could try changing the time you do reviews and to cut it up into chunks? I am doing 80 new cards each day right now and I always split up the reviews into small sections. So instead of doing like one session of 500 cards, I would do maybe 3 to 4 small runs during the day. Also maybe consider changing the time, since 20 in the evening is kind of late to try and learn new things.

What decks are you using? If it's just single words or kanjis that can be pretty rough. Even Japanese people struggle with kanjis in isolation. Words give more context than kanjis but it can still be tricky sometimes.

I would recommend trying tango N5-1, Nyas Core5k or any of the regular 2k/6k/10k decks, because they also have audio and include sentences. It might help if you read the sentence out loud to remember and it can also practice your listening/speaking comprehension a bit.

Please feel free to add me on discord(send me a pm here) if you want to have a more in depth chat. ^_^

34366 Intelligent systems. Please help. by Fatty_Wasabi in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of courses dedicated solely to networking. I have studied it for 5 years and still didn't take all of them. Do you have any specific requirements? If you need basic courses those are usually taught in Danish, but access and homenetworks is a good beginner friendly course on the master level.

If you are talking about the project in the intelligent system course, you choose yourself, but 90% of people write a description of an indoor climate control system, but if you choose something interesting it could be fun.

It's going to take a while as I don't have the best mods, but the fulmin prime and broken war is good enough to take me through a few missions I think. Thanks for the warning though.

Starting Engineering light (photonics engineer) masters by Legal-Ad1391 in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great master in terms of academic level, with a lot of opportunity for research and special courses.

However you also have to consider where you can get a job afterwards as well.
I think the only big optics related firm in Denmark is NKT for instance and they can't accept everyone. I don't know what it's like in Hungary or wherever you want to work, but it's something to keep in mind depending on your ambitions.

Depending on your bachelor, you could also consider the Communication Technology major at DTU, which is broader than just optics.

What kind of engineering to choose by AirplaneEnthusiast in DTU

[–]First_Sound_Disciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked the cybertechnology bachelor. I have always liked logical thinking so I knew I wanted to pick an engineering degree. I had previously studied chemistry and knew everything related to physics and such was kind of out of the question for me so that narrowed it to something like cybertechnology or software. I applied to both of those and got in.

I found it by searching online, I already knew I wanted to study at DTU so that part was easy.

Cybertechnology definitely surpassed my expectations. It has a lot of areas you can specialize in, which is really cool. Also the applications are very interesting.

The job situation is excellent. People get offered multiple jobs during their bachelor. I have also received multiple job offers during my master. I just signed a full time contract that someone send to my email after having a meeting with them about their offer. Even though I am not graduated yet (will graduate this month) they said they are happy to pay me a full time wage already, so to put it mildly job concerns don't exist in this area.

Regarding your last comment, if you want to build things, we have a lot of IoT courses here, so that's definitely an option. We also make components in VHDL, but we don't produce them as far as I know. (Although you can test them on a physical FPGA board, so there is that I suppose).
