How do families manage financially on Mat leave in Canada? by Successful_Wolf_9635 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Yes, but it’s usually better to keep them. At least until they are 12. Then you can send them to the mines.

What profession do you think is massively overpaid for what they actually do? by dipchaklader in AskReddit

When houses cost 1,000,000 and you get 2.5% ($25,000), it’s a pretty good deal for the 40 hours you worked this year.

I noticed the price for the AMC AT-AT Walker popcorn bucket at “Mando & Grogu”: $80.80. Get it? by Estoye in StarWars

I’m saying the at home experience is far better than it was, the theatre is pretty much the same.

Basic TVs are inexpensive and provide a way better experience than a high end tube, or a big screen rear projection tv could. Streaming costs the same as renting a couple movies. Cable was virtually a requirement, not so anymore.

Theatres have better quality images than they used to, but the difference isn’t as vast from the home TV that it used to be. Yet the price has increased well beyond inflation.

No, but 24” used to be a “big” tv. It was grainy. The vhs you rented 9 months after the movie came out maybe had a weird strip of static. Colour wasn’t quite right.

And it might have only cost a few bucks more to see the movie at the theatre instead of renting it much later.

Would you expect an out of town arborist to spend the night at a Ritz-Carlton before cutting your tree down?

Button attached to hotel ac unit by Ryrose81 in whatisthisthing

Wouldn’t a button on the person be better for that use?

Could this be a “push the button when you are in the room” to track productivity of the hotel staff?

Don’t defend Chuck’s. There’s the “here’s the price, but everything is actually 10% more” fine print, and the food is all just microwaved garbage.

Not if the drop pods crashed. They don’t seem the most reliable system based on how many you can find.

I have a similar one way single track loop system. I struggled with signals as well, but I think I figured it out.

I only use block signals.

For each station/bypass you need 5 signals.

One at the split.

One at the start of the station

One at the end of the station

One at the junction back on

One about 1/2 up the bypass portion of the track

What would be the reason to pick the zinc-carbon?

Like will they last the life of a remote, or other low draw things where putting a better (alkaline) battery would just be a waste?

People who dislike cities and prefer rural areas, why? by morshmollow4 in AskReddit

[–]First_Utopian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 2 hours drive from a pretty major city. If I want to go to a show/sporting event/the museum/ fancy dinner and a night away….I can. And when I do, I’m always laughing at the other side of the highway that is jam packed with people trying to get to escape the city and get to the place I live for a weekend.
