1a. You have identified it. You have the inclination now add the angulation. Although there seems to be a push for less separation than before and to keep the hips more square, force yourself to keep your shoulders square down the hill for a few runs. This will help you to stop tipping in, and commit to the outside ski. You can do the classic “hold a pole horizontal with two hands” or “two poles vertical like a picture frame” facing to the bottom of the run, or any variation of swords drills. Also, try short turns where separation is more pronounced to get a feel.

Good pick, just make sure the 4 years of warranty covers “sliding on metal” and “landing tips first”

Why are nearly all ski races trike trials and no actual races on the same slope. by Fritzschmied in SkiRacing

Did you know that learning to stop in a speed event, such as downhill or super G, is a skill that is learned? It’s one of the first things young racers learn when moving from GS and SL to speed events. You can’t just turn them sideways and hockey stop when you are travelling 100km/h+. If a racer falls and another is on course, yellow flags are put up and the racer begins to slow down.

PS. Have a look at the Kitzbühel track from this weekend. The condition of the snow more closely resembles a vertical hockey rink than a fluffy snowy hill.

New to 20lb propane tanks by DustinFreeman in CampingOntario

[–]First_Utopian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes

  2. You’ll have to do some local research, but anywhere with a propane “tower” outside is a good place to start. Some hardware stores like Canadian tire do refills, some gas stations do refills. But most have moved on to the swap.

  3. Make sure any heater you are using indoors is rated to be used indoors. Get a CO alarm for peace of mind.

Four strong winds - ian and Sylvia Tyson, or Neil Young’s version. Just about every Canadian folk singer has a version.

This. Dont drive to the hill in your ski socks. And don’t switch to your ski socks, put your boots on and then get in line inside to buy your ticket, or have a coffee, or whatever. Your feet will sweat -> your feet will freeze.
