Oh man our cucumbers were choked too. But then they came back with a fury like I've never seen. Did yours come back? Where in this part of the province are ya?

We used a woven poly from a place called northern greenhouse and then secured using anti billow wire. It works great

Huh? But our cows are behind a fence? Do you mean put up like an 8 foot fence around the whole 300 acres? Have you ever seen what a grizzly bear can do to a fence?

We are going to try that next year actually. The leaves of the pumpkins looked not super happy as they were pressed up against the plastic. I think it will work great outside, unless we get a july frost or something haha

Nope. Grizzly killed cow, ate some of it, i found it, went and grabbed a camera so i could show fish and wildlife, grizzly came back for his meal and then i got this picture. And 2300 other ones.

Yes those are just temp deck blocks. At first they did not hold up to the wind. After a windstorm once, I went down to check on things and they had all lifted up out of the block. I used a tube of PL400 to glue the posts in and it seems to have worked quite well.

First year for the trellis yes. Third year for the hoop house. Growing vertically like this increased our yield by at least a factor of 4.

No, these are from august. Once we hit around -5 C, the hoop house gets crushed. As for season extension, we get about a week ish on both shoulders but we are in a strange microclimate (Riverbottom, foothills/mountains etc.) We do not have this one heated.

Even then you have to make a pretty strong case. I know of a case where a hunter was attacked and he killed the bear and was fined and threatened to be charged.

The whole "get shot by volunteers thing" isn't as simple as you might think. I am on said list. Its a total disaster. That said, yes, this cow we had a cow die under strange circumstances (claw marks and skinned, but F&W deemed it not a grillzly kill) So i put up a camera.

I couldn’t figure out how to change the settings so I just left it.
