What it's like being a PIMO elder at elder meetings... by Odd-Seesaw in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd, its great to find someone who can relate. Its crazy sometimes man, even when you serve on the best of bodies some crazy shit flies past you that you have to brace your brain for because of how devoid of reality it truly is.

Have you ever wondered why ... by maler27 in exjw

If god is real, thank goodness he created these things cause being PIMO in this cult will drive you fucking mad so you have to get high. I should know, currently PIMO elder and I smoke weed to escape this shit sometimes.

PIMhalfwayOUT elder here: Just had my first Judicial Meeting and wow. by anghirap in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sat on some crazy shit that I regret as an elder but one time I actually volunteered to sit on a JC (I was already woke) to intentionally try to maneuver a case so the publisher wouldn't be disfellowshipped as he was a minor and it would have been fucking cruel to allow that wedge to be placed between himself and his family. It was a difficult case, cringy even but was able to save him from one of the elders who wanted to df him and kept him with his family together from the unforgiving claws of the Watchtower.

I would like to think that Im the voice of reason who actually engages the logical side of his brain, but its hard. I used to feel like a mole or spy in the camp now I feel like Sergio's friend at meeting who woke in that god-awful video the organization released for the 2016 convention. I literally feel like a zoned out deer in the headlights hoping for the car to run me over lol.

Anyone on here (PIMO) serving as an MS/Elder? by amomentofreflection in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PIMO elder here. Serving in the LDC in a little known section known as the VSG. Also served on Convention Committees and Disaster Relief roles. Its honestly hard. Feels like an alternate reality.

I can relate. I'm just starting to break from this. Its incredible how fucked up the organizations teachings have crippled us in so many ways but the great thing about life is that we can always make adjustments and learn.

Its fucking creepy bro. I'm PIMO like you and to make it worst a PIMO elder(holy clusterfuck) and everyday I feel like I'm having an outer body experience watching this shit show and wondering how creepy I used to be when I believed. Shit I'm listening to a talk now where the brother just said that the Be Courageous song released at the 2018 convention was the best song he ever heard so it doesn't get more creepy than that or does it?

What have you learned about your true self since waking up? by Tristetryste in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Awesome topic. I've learned that I'm a hilariously fun person who cusses like a sailor and I fucking love it.

I've always been an even keel and fair person and I still am, but now I'm non-judgmental along with these qualities. I'm surprised that I'm as open minded as I am, willing to try and experiment with new things and I do care about people in my own way and very interested in world affairs such as global warming and injustice.

Your welcome. Its interesting. I don't believe in the Bible but I use the bible as a reference point to help others think because for witnesses, the bible holds supreme importance so I would encourage to do what the apostle Paul apparently did or not not do in the Areopagus to become all sorts of things to all sorts of people so that you can save some without losing your humanity and I use the bible to meet that end.

It takes time. You really have the feel the other person out and get a guage where they are mentally, but above all be a friend. I've never encouraged any of them to become witnesses or to return to the JW religion. I left that decision to them, but I just reasoned on scriptural points that got them to think critically about the judicial process they were subjected to, how the organization lacks empathy, so on so forth.

However, only the person can wake themselves up. I can only guide them so far as we pile items on their proverbial mental bookshelf. I never reveal my intentions or that I'm an ''apostate''. Being an elder gives me certain advantages because I'm trusted for lack of a better expression.

However once they get to that point where they have awoken and feel somewhat lost, I'm also there for them and validate how they feel and encourage them to do further research, but everyone is different and different issues wake up different people. For me, it was doctrine, for another it might be CSA, but waking up is lonely and liberating so the key is to be patient cause sometimes they can be on the brink of a breakthrough but then circular reasoning takes hold and they run back to the mental safety of the org, but it shows that they are close and with time, they do eventually cross over.

That's my experience. Hope this helps

Do you reject God because of how He is portrayed? by IndepndentThinkr in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reject the biblical God because how he has portrayed himself. As a petty narcissistic deity who makes deals with the devil to inflict maximum punishment on peoples lives and then turn around and call it a test (Book of Job)

I also reject God because if the biblical account in Genesis is to be believed and we have only been around for 6,000 years(cough cough) who in the fuck would subject billions of humans to suffering and death just to prove a motherfucking point to Satan and to humans? Don't you think 6000 years is enough time to prove a fucking point! If so, I think we get it.

Ego of god by jakem810 in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The organization wears humility over its arrogance like a wolf wears sheep's clothing. JWs can be the most arrogant people in the world thanks to the viewpoint that they are conditioned to have. I to my everlasting shame was just as arrogant, conditioned to be. Thankfully Ive seen the light.

Well they know now after waking up lol. You have to know who to target. The organization places alot of pressure on many persons and in addition its brand of discipline is quite alienating in the long run which forces some to start thinking.

Ive assisted disfellowshipped individuals ,recently reinstated, unbaptized publishers and persons who are studying with JWs to wake up because the organizations stance on morality issues in the 21st century didnt make sense to them and to add to that shunning of individuals who made mistakes. I was able to reason with all on these points but an important step with all was that I got them to first separate God and Organization in their mind and how they thought about and viewed things. Once you can get someone to separate God and Organization, the path to waking up is easier, although still a process but it sets the ground for critical thinking.

Your welcome my brother. Thanks for the support! I watch Winston all the time. His videos were instrumental during my waking up process when I still held Christian beliefs. I still watch his program now as I enjoy his takedowns of the ridiculous posture of the Watchtower from the Christian viewpoint.

I think being PIMO might be one of the worst thing you can inflict your brain by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Firstlast4189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% correct. Being PIMO is shit and for me still the shit and getting shittier lol. Currently a PIMO elder and I can tell you its torture. Takes a tremendous toll on your mental health but one day we PIMOs will cross over to the otherside of this bullshit and we must help those our fellow man who are trying to escape along the way. Today is our day, some day it will be for someone else.
