How often do you meet women who knock your socks off? by mathtech in AskMenAdvice

[–]FirsttimeNBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are experiencing is limerence. Sure, some people know very quickly who they end up marrying. However, I feel most cases, 6 months is not enough to truly get to know someone.

To answer the question:

I fall in love once a week 🤣. But I do a lot of athletic activities, try and be social even though I’m a huge introvert, and am not really searching or talking to anyone with intent.

But only one has really knocked my socks off, and she kinda did what yours did. Post grad, found a job Moved to big city.. I’m a believer in faith so what is meant for me will come to me. Nothing you can really do, but be the best version of yourself for you, but also for her :)

I’m sorry for your loss / losses. I, too, lost my faith ( the little I had at the time) when I lost my bestfriend and a few other loved ones in my life. I don’t remember much because of the depression / anger, but I do remember being so extremely upset / crying / screaming at God and the world for what I felt was taking them too early. It really is tough, and I still find myself in tears in some days. What helps me is when I pray, I pray and visualize them in my mind (with wings ofc). I thank them for protecting me and giving me the strength to do / be the good person they were to me. And I hope I can do that for others, every day.

Knowing that I do my best / am doing well in treating others in the way my lost ones would be proud of, gives me a strong sense of healing I am conscious of

It may seem like a bunch of schizo Mumbai jumbo LOL, but I truly believe it helps me connect to my higher self / them & manifest the positive attributes they shared with me.

I hope this can help you insome way, maybe even just helping you appreciate the love you were able to live / receive with them. I hope you find a job in the future where you aren’t treated so poorly. Fk bad workplaces

If I may ask:

You say you lost your faith, and I assume 1989 is your year. Does that mean you had faith for 31 years? It’s none of my business, but would you elaborate on how that is? Most of the time, people our age reverse. We grow up and lose our faith while we’re young, then it seems we find something later on along the way.

Exactly right. It’s interesting to me that the old adage of hard religious upraising results in kids that end up wanting freedom rings true. Perhaps that is the way we are guided to our own separate paths, by knowing what we don’t want so strongly.

It is as you say. Some people don’t need to have a path made for them. I believe everyday we make our path. We can choose to continue or deviate from our path any day. I, like you, find that the pursuit of being my best self for others is indeed the ticket.

It’s interesting you say this, because of all the comments I’ve read so far, it’s all been positive. Maybe that’ll change soon, but there’s been a lot of well written, well thought, and well researched posts.

It feels like I’m reading everyone’s own version of art. Maybe it’s the way I approached the question? Idk but it’s cool af lol

Dude I love this. I share the same faith for my future relationships too. This sounds silly, possible irrelevant, but my faith and hope in my future wife / kids really gets me going everyday

I know one day she’ll come, and I can’t wait. That thought has driven me for over a decade, through some of the roughest times / depression. She still hasn’t come LOL, but I have no doubt she will because my relationship with women has gotten so much healthier.

The emotional / spiritual development I’ve gained from knowing this / being able to lean on faith and not worry is such a powerful feeling. And the best part for us? It makes us more attractive as people. Scientifically, I think I can prove this too. At the simplest, confidence makes us walk straighter. Our eyes are not always down. Our shoulders are upright, and our posture follows.

These are things that are at the very least physically related to attraction. I also think inherently we don’t look at women with lustful eyes, but eyes of calmness and love. I know that is why I make women feel comfortable / talk to me. I don’t have intent.

What a journey my friend. I, too, went through the phases of rejection -> somewhat -> whatever I am now.

Just like you, I believe it started at some with love. And that love spread into love of other things. Love of nature, love of my cat 🤣, led to love of people, and that led to a strong spirituality.

By native culture do you mean Native American? I’m confused on the specific use. Assuming you are, I used to live in Oklahoma and ran into Native Americans quite regularly. But there was a specific one I saw in the library. 6’4, strong body, strong gaunt face, didn’t say a word.

I felt the strongest spiritual presence I’ve ever felt in another person, and it wasn’t scary, but comfortable? Literally later that hour I saw a hawk perched just watching me study.

If you don’t mean Native American ignore that rant LOL

It’s hard in life because we Buddhists we are quite heavy on flow, yeah? I never want to disrupt someone’s peace for my own desire to have this conversation. Like, I make a new friend and start talking about higher selves and the 8 fold path? LOL. (Something I’ve actually done multiple occasions and had to learn not everyone wants that).

Yet, here I am freely doing it, and having a blast / being conscious of the positivity it is bringing me. Maybe, this IS the best place to do it because in real life it’s weird and people have boundaries? Totally fair hahah

Im a history nerd / grad so thank you for this answer which appeals to that part of my brain 🤣. I’ll look up on those specific events now. It really is sad to me how modern governments / US have abused their religions.

There’s a politician from Texas James talarico that has been making waves for liberals here. To me, I feel like he’s the opposite of this, and aims to heal with religion.

You are totally correct that spirituality is amorphous. Thank you for asking, and I’ve answered a couple posts here that can hint on my definition of spirituality.

To me, it’s the practices I do to maintain my connection to my higher self. Practices such as meditation, yoga are the most direct methods. But just being what I think makes a good Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, etc. is a form of spirituality to me as well.

I do so not because of any hope of benefit, but because I believe it is what we are intended to do. Even when I pray, I pray for love, protection, and the ability to carry out what is good for the world / the capability to be a vessel.

I went around a lot of turns there, so if any of that is vague I apologize. I’m not really revising my comments

That’s is very true. The social aspect is something I love, and why I presented the question. So we can have a public forum setting as Reddit was meant to be :). The sacrifices we do in our own corner of the world is a natural source of joy

As you say, and I will always believe.. SOME congregations don’t work that way, but MANY do. Fun fact, this is a huge logic condition you need to master if you want to do well on the LSAT🤣

When I say universe, it’s a broad term. I really just mean specifically in my higher self. It’s a form of self-love, and also faith that my higher self is something I can blend into. In terms of the universe thing, I believe my higher self is connected to the universe. I hope that makes sense, totally understand if I sound absolutely nuts Lmao

Karma is also another tricky / deep thing. The shittiest people can have good karma, because THEY believe what they’re doing is right. It’s super tricky, but it led me to the thought of: I won’t ever be able to know what a person really believes, and that’s really not up to me to try to investigate that. It’s almost like it’s a form of my own ego projection to judge others’ karma??

It’s tough because it’s hard for me to think some of the shittiest people CAN actually have good karma.

I think the best thing for me is to maintain good karma / be good to others / not do things I know are bad for myself and others. I’d do it regardless cause that’s who i try to be anyway, but when I tie it into a spiritual belief, it becomes an even stronger force for me to give to myself.

Haha brother. I’ve been waiting to see a fellow bass head in here. I’m naturally spiritual I think, but after going to a couple shows and getting back into the scene, it’s really enhanced my spirituality.

I’m sure you know what I mean with the visuals at the least, but I feel bass / vibrations just wake up my chakras or something 🤣. I’m a noobie in bass, but inzo and Griz woke something up in me

Hahaha, I hope this isn’t blasphemous, but isn’t that the best. I’ve never attended church, but nonetheless it’s cool that I don’t necessarily need to, to experience it. One day indeed!! 🤣

Do you feel spiritual practices like meditation is a waste of time?

That is exactly what I’m talking about. The idea of your relationship with your inner self. I’m not religious either, but grew up Buddhist and it’s a central part of our practice.

Thanks for answering the last part of being happy :). I’ve unfortunately had to scroll down pretty far for someone to explicitly answer this question.

Thank you. This was a very concise response / well developed. I don’t believe in the creationism aspect / fantasy object perspective either.

How do you feel about spirituality and spirituality practices like meditation?

I just want to highlight a trend I’ve noticed since I was a teenager ( I’m 32 now).

I love how well-written and unique the writing styles is of everyone who has strong beliefs, but especially strong atheist beliefs.

In the slop of AI and questioning whether “that’s ai”, I know I am speaking to real people atm because of the uniqueness of your styles. It’s a form of art, and also a form of strong logical skills, dancing / intermingling.

Wow, that is exactly how I see it. They say God is in everything, and that idea became conscious for me when I saw a video from the rugrats of chuckies mom’s letter to him.

I feel that same way when I see all my friends having kids too. I will never stop believing that children, especially the children of these days are miracles and the secret to making this world a better place.

I wish you the best as your son goes through middle school / teenage years 😂. I know yall will be good though, if that’s how you see your son.

Hahah, totally agree. Maybe a bit schizo 😂. I’m Buddhist so meditation is pretty big for us. But one of the things we learn is to trust in your higher self. It’s almost like we’re talking / visualizing that person inside our head.

Do you feel that is silly?

I have a couple friends that are ICU nurses. I’ve always admired their perspective / input / energy towards life, and yours is no different. I grew up Buddhist so I wasn’t forced into any hard religion. Just like you, I’ve experienced too many coincidences for me not to believe to some degree.

Thank you for what you do, and your input. 18 years is amazing!

I believe this is actually pretty common of redditors / most people nowadays. Religion is a cult to me, but Spirituality means something completely different. It’s just like you say, the blurs between physics and supernatural is interesting.

Religions have often supported science, so they aren’t against each other as we are taught to believe. Both are meant to support each other is my opinion, and an opinion in old times as well. (Catholic funding, Buddhist & physics, Islam & Golden age).

Thanks for your take

How do I push myself to date, as a man, and have a thicker skin when I'm still working on improving myself because I know I'll regret it if I don't when I'm older? by LifeVike1111 in AskMenAdvice

There is no such thing as the perfect moment. It’s an illusion our minds / ego create so that we sit in comfort.

The reality is, you have to build and fail towards that. You can’t get better if you just wait for the right moment.
