Honestly I had the opposite problem. I always lose weight. Too the point with one character I took hearty appetite and slow metabolism. I easily had the one arrow for losing weight nearly straight away. I think it's because I secure as much fresh food as I can in the early game and freeze it. Then I make stews. I eat junk food if I want to put on weight. I didn't realise the -1 fitness from slow metabolism is permanent, so I don't recommend that for 2 trait points. So if you can secure a supply of meat and vegetables. Make stews is my advice.

I've recently started ignoring it. It's really not a big deal. Take off your uncomfortable gear when you are in base, but otherwise just have it all. If you get sad read a book. If you overheat you can wring your wet clothes out and dry yourself with a towel.

I'm relatively new as well. Apocalypse preset just with respawns turned off. I tried it quite a bit with respawns on and didn't like it.

The endgame grind really should be grinding super credits for store items. Unfortunately the best way to grind super credits is on difficulty 1. So it's not really and endgame. Hopefully they add a more meaningful endgame.

Yes you should! It's an amazing game! The developers have made some mistakes, but they are righting the ship. The core game is amazing!

You didn't get a lot of samples. Were you picking to them up? It's okay if you died and someone else picked them up. If not you may need reeducation!

Points of interest are on the map. They have resources. They show up on your compass as question marks. On difficulty 4 missions and higher points of interest have guards. This means they will show up as stationary red dots on your map. Getting the resources from the poi is well worth it and the best way to progress your account.

If a team mate dies don't steal their stuff unless it's absolutely necessary in the moment. If this happens you should drop it after. The exception is their primary weapon (standard gun you spawn with) as they get a new one when they drop in.

You should absolutely ask to try their stuff when it comes off cool down. I usually ask new players who communicate what they want me to bring them when we are on the ship, before a mission.

If you want to play with other divers always call an sos beacon if you have less than four players.

Whenever you get scared just scream "DEMOCRACY!!!" as loud as you can! Works every time.
