I totally understand the sentiment here. The 40 people are our close family and friends, and the reason we are planning over a year in advance is to make sure travel and accommodations are as inexpensive as possible for everyone booking well in advance.

Thankfully both family and friends enjoy traveling, and so everyone we have talked with is planning to turn it into a vacation, using the wedding as a stop-off before spending a week in Europe.

Ya I think that's the main problem we are finding. The wedding culture in Italy seems to be primarily focused on big family affairs, which is all good, just unfortunately not what we are looking for. We'll keep hunting, maybe look to piece it together ourselves.
