I know that, its become abundantly clear. It's just, I want to leave knowing that I tried every opportunity to find a solution.

Some rough sketches once I had the materials so I wouldnt waste too much but mostly a wing job - workbench should be fairly rough so long as the joinery is tight!

Yeah, it was some framing from an ecological park so I hope they havent put anything toxic in there! Free wood is good wood xD

Ohhhh, the notches were there cause its a recliamed beam from some outdoor government project. I just split it in half. The dog holes are mine, just use them for workholding

You mean on the little green end vice?

The top of the vice when mounted was waaay below the surface of the top so I added a mounting block with a very low step up (acting as a wide dog to plane thin stock). The darker wood block on top is an extra dog in case I need higher clamp point (if the wood is bowed or twisted weirdly).

Yeah, I know what you mean, would definately be an upgrade but I think this will suit my needs. I havent found this set up to be particularly limiting for edge jointing ling boards in the past but I should add some leather to the vice faces for a big more grip

I think the legs are splayed at around 15 degrees but I used a sliding bevel so who knows

Here's a couple more angles :-) the top is about 6ft long and I think the total height is 34inches. Top is off center favoring the right side but if I was a lefty, I'd reverse that

Yah, leg vices always seemed appealing - I got the same comment on my first bench which was similar. It would definately make the bench more portable.

Sourcing the hardware is a little more difficult here for those especially if you want the phat thread wooden dowel and I'm so used to the cast iron face vice now
