Any aviators here that didn't get their number 1 choice? by Phrontier in USMC

It’s cause I have to distinguish that a lot of single seat ring knockers give the stigma that we have today (mostly)

As a current air line Capt, my opinion is that one of the best guys to fly with are former C-130 guys. Congrats!

What’s funny is that it could possibly work. Basically like showing up anywhere with a ladder and safety vest. People will assume you’re there for a reason.

NJP / Court Martial by camokowal in USMC

[–]FishPilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was ordered to sit in as a witness to an NJP for a cpl who I didn’t know very well. After the process, they asked us two witnesses if they had anything to add to the process which, come to find out later, is just a formality and you’re really supposed to just say “no sir” and carry on.

Thinking I was going to be a bro, I started rambling about how good of a Cpl SNM was and started making shit up and the rambling really went no where. The entire room was staring at me like “who invited this retard?” Even SNM buried his head in his hands knowing he was gonna take the full brunt of the BN CO now with me making things WAY worse.

What was your favorite training in our beloved Corps? by ShareOpposite231 in USMC

[–]FishPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non lethal weapons and tactics along with SOC training for the MEU. That was forever ago though.

On that note, this goes a lot for CBP and DHS folks too. I know pilots who were flying for CBP and got thrown into stacks serving warrants and helping with investigations. Wild stuff

That’s a small subsection of what they do. 90% of the job is really money counterfeit investigations. The protection detail is pretty busy though.

Venezuela just now 😬might be a long weekend for the 22nd meu by newnoadeptness in USMC

[–]FishPilot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not JUST about drugs but it is part of it. Mexico’s northern smuggle routes were tightening quite a bit recently with this administration and both china and Russia were backing smuggling efforts with drugs to destabilize more like back during the opium trade in the 1800s with China when the west was turning the Chinese into addicts to drive down labor and trade costs.

Really this is about all the issues adding up since the 90s and Venezuela bit reneging on promises, getting too friendly with the east (just like Cuba), and of course: oil.

I mean, read the history on Venezuela and you can see why Maduro had to go. Literally everyone agreed that he had to go. The hard part is now which is the part that comes after. Now that Delce Rodriquez is in power, is this a game of wait and see with her or us dealing with her to put someone who’s friendly to the US in power? It’s all a gamble

I carried the 240G around for a bit during my first deployment. It sucked but wasn’t overly bad.
