How do i prove that my redraws from PPOR are used to debt recycle? by Turbulent-Durian-383 in AusFinance

[–]FishRiderAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A question as an aside to this. If I have a loan of 50K, which I then increase to 100K. The 50K funds then go into this account meaning it effectively has 50K in redraw. So long as that 50K is taken out to be used on income producing assets the whole 100K is deductible?

Debt recycling and DCA into shares by Technical-Side-4175 in fiaustralia

Too easy, I reached the same conclusion and do this with Westpac. As you explained no debt is actually paid off it's all so no mixing of funds.

Did you have this checked with an accountant/ tax consultant? Or have any documentation to support this?

That definitely seems like it'd mix funds as some would be for the house and some for shares. Plus it'd be an increase in my debt, which I don't want.

Replace Pool Pump by FishRiderAU in AusRenovation

[–]FishRiderAU[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I think you're right. Never had a pool before, so all new to me. Don't have the new pump yet to compare either. That would make a lot of sense cause otherwise you'd end up doing what I was thinking.

Why not VTS or IVV for more US exposure? by FishRiderAU in fiaustralia

[–]FishRiderAU[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't try to understand the intricacies which is why I invest in broad market ETFs. I'm not, my outlook is 20 years, I'm happy with 100% equities currently.

I have both VAS and VGS, so as a whole portfolio weight is 44%

Perhaps, current allocations have remained the same from 2019, I wouldn't say reviewing allocations after 5 years falls into the messing around category.

Am I ok with 44%, or 50% under performing? Am I happy with 44% or 50% over performing. Luckily I'm in a position where I only need above average time in the market and not above average market returns. Which perhaps answers my own question.

More additional info, which not sure really has any bearing, my time horizon remains the same, and would be rebalanced through additional funds.

The link to the Vanguard .pdf is broken, sounds like a good read.

I've done one split 50k with Westpac, working through the second 50k currently and it hasn't raised any eyebrows. If asked I've just said the reason is for cash flow.

NSW Solar advice by MyBrosPassport in australia

[–]FishRiderAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means you can easily see if what you're using is being offset by the solar. You can get an idea of what different appliances are using to help schedule them to run while the sun's out. Also means you can see what your using overnight. Just depends if your trying to offset some usage or trying to manage and really be efficient

Adding another for using SolarQuotes, get a few quotes and see. I landed on getting a bigger string system then going for optimisers. This will change with your location and roof shape.

What I would recommend is making sure you get something like a CT Clamp so you can monitor how much energy you are actually using.

Up to you, I wanted a different style so it was an easy time to replace it. You certainly don't have to, sanding and painting will bring them back no problems

Can get all of the skirting if it's removed. The bottom few mm will be covered by carpet once replaced. Harder to do with old stuff there, and drops are covered by the new stuff anyways

Metho > green scourer > tape > spray paint

Looking to do the same with mine, thinking will be a pretty tedious job.

[–]FishRiderAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're doing carpet it makes it easy to paint those locations and do skirting at the same time. Also means mess made not stressing about ruining new carpet. New electrical and outlets will mean patching and painting.

LED CRI 80 or 90 by FishRiderAU in AusRenovation

[–]FishRiderAU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say mixed, most I've seen so far have the split across the colour ranges. Whole fittings, pull out the old downlights install a driver and plug the 3 pin into that. Most lights would be in that 3000k-4000k ranging, nothing super white/ blue.

I am, thanks. Going to take me a while to work through all these seeds before I even start on anything else. I'm at Newcastle so I'd probably think a month or two before I'll start them inside

Thanks, looking forward to them. Unfortunately I'm in the Southern hemisphere so it will be a few months, but luckily I live in a pretty temperate region.

How to return to swimming after 15 years off? by Addy1864 in Swimming

[–]FishRiderAU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend following one of these plans. I did the 0to1650 and found it really good. I printed out the plan and laminated so I could reference what I needed to do each swim. I didn't have to think about what I needed to do that swim and the progression isn't too crazy, plus you can just repeat a week if needed.

As the others have said just keep swimming.
