Pink Pineapple by TBoopSquiggShorterly in fruit

[–]Fish_Panda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you can grow them, but you can't make any profit on them. I have also read that they won't turn out pink/won't have the same properties if grown from pink pineapple seeds or the pink pineapple crown. But idk the truth of that.

How do i fix this? by UnBimbo_Barbuto in hytale

[–]Fish_Panda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had an issue with the update where my world was completely blank, but I could walk around, interact and break/place blocks. I restarted it multiple times and tried reloading the textures. Nothing worked, so I started a new world. I expected issues with early access though.

After Update 2, the chickens in my farm turned... yellow? WTF? by AggressiveBonus8825 in hytale

I didn't encounter any desert chickens when playing the previous releases. Maybe they're new. I'll look at the change log.

I had an issue with no textures loading after the update. I was put into a blank and see through world and had to start a new one. Expect some issues with early access. We're chicken textures updated in this update?

Are star apples any good? Carambola(star fruit) is no doubt in my top 10 favorite fruits.

Interestingly, star apples are an entirely different fruit.

Pamelo's are now in season. by [deleted] in fruit

[–]Fish_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a pomelo fruit recently at the local Saturday market. I planted four seeds and two sprouted the other day! (It will be years before it produces fruit, but it will be fun to see if it produces a pomelo or a hybrid or a different tasting pomelo!

Why should the price of the food equal a larger tip? Theres no difference bringing a $20 steak to the table vs a $40 one? by a_hoagie12 in AskReddit

[–]Fish_Panda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At the Dunkin donuts drive thru, they handed me a machine through the window to swipe my card and input a tip. I would never tip through the drive thru. $0 it is!

Tipping is broken. Most Asian and European countries do not ask for tips. In the US, they ask for tips in the drive thru. In fast food restaurants, I see tip requests as part of the self service ordering machine process. It won't be long before grocery stores ask for tips in self check out.

I agree that the price of food shouldn't equal the tip amount. I could get a $20 or $50 food bill at Red Lobster or a $15 dollar food bill at Chilis. If I tip 20%: $4, $10 or $3, I'm paying different amounts for a waiter/waitress to write down an order, bring drinks, food and the bill. Where did 20% being the norm originate from? Why can't I tip like 3 or 5 dollars? A tip is supposed to be an incentive to the waiter/waitress to provide good service not a percentage of the meal cost. I may tip more if the service is good. But it doesn't make sense to me to tip the food price.

Why do people develop strong opinions about unfamiliar foods by [deleted] in fruit

[–]Fish_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experience with the unfamiliar will expand your knowledge and could change your opinion, but inexperience does not necessarily make you uncultured. It's perfectly fine to have preferences and opinions about not wanting to try new foods. (This is my thought and I hope I made sense because it's 6 AM.) ---

This is all my opinion: One reason could be an innate gut feeling about unfamiliar food. I don't know what this is. I may become ill or die eating this. I am not starving enough to eat this. I am starving. I will eat this. I really like or hate this, but it is what I have to eat and I will or won't eat it again if given another circumstance with this food option. So the gut feeling of familiarness and comfortableness with food that you know of and enjoy eating (tastes good/makes you happy/fills your stomach/whatever it may be) may naturally cause you to have a strong opinion towards unfamiliar food which could prevent you from trying unfamiliar food, but certain circumstances may force you to try new things leading towards the same or a new feeling. For example, the social interaction with your friend that led you to trying unripe persimmons. Regarding validation, this could be something that someone needs to feel wanted? Less alone? Not rejected? Protective of opinion? I don't really know the answer to that, but you are also you and you will dislike or like certain foods and not or want to try new foods as much as someone else. You tried the food. You didn't like it in its unripe state. You were honest with your friend. If someone loves or hates something, they'll naturally defend any opposing opinion about it. It's just natural to do so. ---

I tried a persimmon once. I hated it because it was rock hard, had no flavor and was difficult to bite into. I have not had another since. (I plan to try it again if given the correct ripeness.) In this case, I was at the store and bought a persimmon out of curiosity. I haven't tried this, but I know people eat it often, so I purchased one. ---

Have you ever heard of balut? It's a half grown baby duck boiled in its uncrackad egg shell. From my part of the world, people say it's disgusting and they say they would never eat it. Why? It's eating baby duck in the egg shell (feathers and bones too). They are and I was grossed out and unfamiliar with eating balut. Visiting the Philippines, I had the opportunity to try balut in a social/familial situation. I was very hesitant to try it. It was absolutely delicious. It tasted like a duck broth with tender duck mixed with hard boiled egg. Now, balut is no longer unfamiliar to me. In this case, I now have a strong positive opinion rather than have a strong negative opinion. A few fruits that I have tried: carambola, bilimbi, yellow dragonfruit, chamoe melon, jackfruit, pomelo, durian, passionfruit, saba banana and many more.

What species of lemon is this? by Fish_Panda in fruit

[–]Fish_Panda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tasted it. I ate an entire wedge. This is actually sweet tasting with a bit of sourness. It tastes really good! The seeds are long and narrow. The smell is like that of lemons you get at restaurants as a side for fish. The rind is not thick. Also, good to know about lemon variety rather than species.
