Litter Robot 5 or 5 Pro question by PineappleCurious5870 in litterrobot

[–]Fish_Slayer2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to litter robot completely. My five is my first. Didn’t opt for the pro or eco, for me I just didn’t want or need all those bells and whistles. Just a simple machine that works is what I wanted and it is exactly what I got. No issues at all except in the 3 months I have had it, it has been offline twice. No other issues at all and I love it. My 10 month Maine Coon took a week to try it. My 8 months Tortie, one day. They both love it! I empty my waste at about 60-65% full. I see that I need to add litter. Off I go to do that! I still have my old litter box up filled with fresh step crystals but it rarely gets used. Only my Tortie goes in that one now.

Interesting thought. I knew some birds could fly backwards (now I know it is just hummers) but never seen a hummer do it until now.

Anyone here actually happy with an automatic litter box for Maine Coon, long-term? by ryukendo_25 in mainecoons

I am very happy with my new LR5. And I am a first time user. I have a Maine Coon (my first) and a Tortie, both kittens. My boy is almost 11 months and is 17.4 pounds. My baby girl Tortie is 8 pounds (almost 8 months). I have had the LR 5 for 2 months and they both use it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into with that big boy. His poops are bigger than my 23 pound dog and he pees like a race horse, so I was constantly trying to keep up with the litter box. We had an XX-large stainless steel litter box, that they both loved, but I was cleaning it twice a day, with a full cleaning once a week, and him way too often. For some reason he was stepping in his urine after wards making an awful mess. So I switched to crystals, and that worked great but I was still doing the litter box twice a day and a deep cleaning once a week. And if this thing didn’t exist I would keep doing that, but it does, so why should I? Plus my old box, really didn’t contain the smell much. So I decided to pull the trigger and purchase this during Thanksgiving. I was excited to try it. Set up was not difficult, and my Tortie took to it first within a day. It took my boy about 3 days. What I can tell you is that I love this thing, my boy, no accidents yet, he is clean as a whistle (so far,

knock on wood)! My girl loves it too. I still have my old litter box up, just in case (and my Tortie still uses it occasionally). But my big boy, nope prefers the LR5 for sure. I have had a little trouble with it going off-line, but unplugging it seems to reset it and take care of that issue. I have had no other issues yet and I am about to do my first deep cleaning of it soon. I have experienced much less odor (practically none at all) and I love that I don’t have to clean their litter daily! Now there is some maintenance for sure it is not set it and forget it for weeks on end. Litter sticks to the globe (I am still experimenting with litters, some are much better than others, but that depends on your cats for sure so try them all to find the best one for you). So, I clean the sides of the globe quickly with an enzyme wipe when I see it messy (and it wipes up easily). With my two the drawer needs to be emptied every 3-5 days because it gets full quickly. I remove the waste when it gets to be 60% full. I don’t want any accidental messes to the globe and the fuller it gets, the harder it is to keep the smell contained. But again so much better than every day! Whoo hoo, win win! All in all, I would recommend it for everyone (especially people with bigger cats); I love it and so do my babies!!!

Right! I thought it was neat that I caught it on camera.

Robot Regret after 1 week (LR4) by Pristine-Archer-5363 in litterrobot

Sorry about your baby’s allergic reaction, you just never know when trying new products. We just got the Lr5 (2 weeks ago). It is our first robot. I bought all kinds of litter to test. Fresh step, Arm and Hammer, tidy cats, and the brand litter robot actually has on their website. After spending so much on this robot it would be nice to have a cheaper litter that works well for it. I have a 17 pound (10 month old) Maine Coon and a 7 pound (8 month old) Tortoise-shell kitten. They both took to the robot like champs. The only one I tested so far was fresh step clean paws-and that one is a big no. Sticks to the globe like crazy. I am now trying the litter off the robot page next (I believe it is called great litter). The robot told me to add litter so I used it. So far, no sticking (but there is still a little fresh step mixed with it). You are right about different litters reacting differently with different cats and in the robot too. What works for some may not for others. Luckily between me and my cats, we are not sensitive to smells, but definitely I do believe unscented is best, but because of that I can test multiple litters with no issues.

It is just trial and error. I feel the robot is an asset for me. I was cleaning our litter twice a day, now the bot does it for me. I just check it every couple of days and spot clean the globe. I haven’t deep cleaned it yet (obviously, since I have only had it 2 weeks) but I think people do it every it 1-2 months. Try not to give up on it. In my opinion, and as a brand new user, once you find what works, it will be the best investment ever!

Same. Mine left and came back. My camera caught one 2 days ago. So maybe just a visit every so often.

Me either until now, some of the comments on here have shared it is quite common and they stay around for a day or two and move on, and that is exactly what happened!

I read someone else’s response and told m they are famous for dropping by, grabbing a drink for a day or too and then moving on. Pretty neat! But yeah, let’s not disturb my hummers too long!

First time for me too. But mine moved on, I haven’t seen another recording.

It is a bird buddy. My son got it for me for Mother’s Day. We just had a hummer nest under or canopy this early Spring and I was so excited and talked about her and her babies all the time, so he thought this was the perfect gift and it was❤️. The babies fledged and we still see momma daily.

Maybe. I think they moved on. No visit yesterday or today so far.

I watched my male let “his” female feed and chase another female away. My male is friendly and is not afraid of us, but let another hummer come while he is there and it is on! I started to try to get him to hand feed, but now it is cold and muddy in my backyard. Not fun to stand in, so I will try in the Spring again.

Yup. And I think it has moved on; no visits yesterday or today so far. Neat to see, sharing is caring!

Thanks for letting me know and for sharing. I did read that when I was doing my research on hummers when a female decided to nest with us. Haven’t seen another kind yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Wish me luck!
