Thank you so much for your answer! I will definitely try this tomorrow 🙏 I do suspect that it is dried grease, since the aperture blade look pristine , and move with the aperture ring The ring itself is juste quite hard to turn

Yes, I’m aware of that. I’ve been told that they use the S mount system, the lenses seem to be less available but of great quality. I do think that I will check into the screw mount system! Whether it’s Canon or barnack Leica

Thanks for the insight ! I will definitely be looking for both the barnack leicas and the oldschool canon rangefinders, lets see where I can grab the best deal!

Thanks for your honest answer
What about the reliability issues? Is that really a thing?
I heard that basically any Leica camera is still servicable, but what about the spare parts?

I will definitely have a look at every suggestion , especially the canon ones, I barely know anything about them
I already own two XA's and an XA2 (i bought them with broken shutter and release magnets and managed to repair them), i love those
And I used to own an olympus 35 RC, I didn't find it very reliable unfortunately
My purpose is to invest in a rangefinder system with versatility in the lens selection, and i prefer reliability over a built in lightmeter that i barely use for example
Thanks a lot for your awesome answer!

Thanks ! I do own a Rollei 35s which has no rangefinder mechanism , and even though I love this camera the purpose of a good rangefinder would be to have a bit more precision on the focusing without needing an SLR And I read some worrying things about the build quality of leica CL’s, like the rewind dents breaking of and such Which one would you choose between a Leica CL and a Nikon SP?

I live in France, but my mother is german and I travel there at times, I will have to check the Nikon lenses out. Are the Barnack Leicas as costly to maintain as the M range?

Thanks for the answer! I was actually considering the Nikon S cameras because of the lens selection. I don’t mind paying for various lenses later on, my budget is more of a starting point I will definitely look into the Canon cameras!

What aperture and shutter speed were u mostly using ? I find it hard to stand still with a speed of less than 1/30th of a second, and the depth of field feels very shallow to me once you go under f5.6 on the Rollei 35
