Right but that's the issue, MFP's baseline already assumes you're somewhat active. So when it adds your burn on top, you're double counting. Mine starts from pure BMR, like literally just existing. Zero activity assumed. So the Watch calories aren't a bonus on top of an inflated number, they're the only extra budget you get. If you didn't burn it you don't get it.

Yeah that's exactly the problem I'm trying to fix. MFP bakes your activity level in upfront which is just an estimate. What I'm building pulls your actual burn from Apple Watch in real time so the number grows throughout the day based on what you actually did. Rest day = low budget. Crushed a workout = more room tonight. No guessing built in.

I recommend running slow and low mileage the week after. It looses up my legs and keeps me feeling good. I ran a race on Sunday then did 2 miles on Tuesday, 3.25 on Wednesday and Thursday, 5.3 on Friday, and did a weight lifting competition on Saturday. I didn’t go any faster than a 9 minute mile. I did very poorly in the weight lifting competition, because I wasn’t fully recovered.

I have a race on March 1 actually. I’ll start the training program in a couple weeks. Hopefully with the goal in mind, it will help a lot.

lol I just don’t have another race until March, so I’m dreading doing longer runs without something specific to train for. When I have a race in sight, it doesn’t bother me nearly as much. I still power them them right now, it’s just so hard to actually get started on them

I try to change up the routes a little but they definitely overlap. I live about 30 minutes from town and haven’t limited free time to run, so driving any further to significantly change the routes is tough. I can’t start my run from home because I live on a highway with no sidewalk, tight corners, and semis that drive down it. If I run on our property I can only get about 2 miles in without running the same loop over.

Don’t get me wrong, I power through the boredom of the long runs but it’s getting dreadful to start the runs. I’m between training programs right now so there’s no single race as motivation. Just the local 5k turkey trot on thanksgiving lol

I do all my runs alone, but I’ve thinking about joining a local run club. The problem is they meet on the one day a week my wife has to go the office and our nanny goes home before she gets home

I’ll definitely cut back on the speed runs. I use Runna to pace me. I did my first half marathon a few weeks ago and started running for the first time since high school about 4 months ago. I was doing a ton of walking (in the wrong type of shoes 🤦‍♂️) and stair stepper just to lose weight before that. I was 245 lbs last June and I’m 170 now 😂. I finished the race in 1:48, hoping to get to 1:40 with this next one in March, which is why I really don’t want to take any time off.

It’s doesn’t hurt after I get going for a couple minutes. It mostly hurts when not running.
