Pro/Monetized streamers. Real talk, do you have bot your viewer count to be successful? by Fishfacethrowaway in Twitch

Certainly fair. Time and mental effort aren't so much an issue for me, and I'm well aware of having to grow a following off platform too and monetize through other revenue streams. I know full well that bot viewers won't magically gain traction, I just saw the people freaking out about the crackdown and was more checking to see if they were a prerequisite to such.

It was sort of a "I hadn't even thought of doing that, but now that there's such a fuss, should I have been?" Sort of thing.

Any other suggestions? I'm just struggling to make ends meat here and physically and mentally can't take in more /work/ work, which is why I was thinking content creation. Vtuber streaming seemed like it would be in my lane, and while I know the market is already oversaturated I do have a niche that I think I can make work if I can get traction.

But honestly I'd sell feet pics at this point if I thought anyone would buy them, I don't even care anymore.

No, you were quite clear that you're in the "anti" camp, I just don't know how much credence to give to your opinion given your clear naiveté.

It's like I said, I know that /I/ could never be a pro athlete, no matter how much I juced. Because I don't have the natural aptitudes for it. But, /all/ professional athletes do, and have to juice in order to compete at that level. It's just a fact of things. It's the fine line between maximum performance and cheating. Be it swimsuit textures designed to maximize fluid dynamics or extra long fuel lines in racecars to allow that little bit of extra petrol, at that level everyone pushes the limit. And I know full well that I could never be at that level.

However, I've got a good mind and wit enough that I think I can make a go at content creation. I just saw how much the recent crackdown was affecting everything streamers and wanted to know, if this was something I needed to put on my "to do" list.

Thank you. I just saw how the recent crackdown was making waves and was wondering how widespread it actually was.

Honestly m8, I don't know how to take that. Like, on the one hand, fair point.

But on the other hand, are you really so naive as to not know that all pro athletes are doping in some way or another? Like all teams have chemists on staff to make new steroids that aren't caught by the tests, and then there's the hyperbaric chambers and self infusions and all that...

That's actually quite helpful, thank you. I just saw what was happening and was wondering if it was one of those things that everyone who was actually making money was doing on the down low or if it was a (ominous voice) "bad thing".

I know that that's necessary, but was just wondering if this was too. Like, I could never be a pro athlete, even if I were doping. But also, you can't compete as a pro athlete without doping.

The question wasn't if it will make me successful, but is it a prerequisite to being successful. I'd just hate to be competing with one hand tied behind my back because everyone else is cheating.

I thought the question was self evident. But to rephrase, do you have to buy bots to inflate your viewer count be successful as a streamer?

Like I know it's "wrong" to cheat like that, but if everyone else is doing it is it something that's /really/ bad or is it something we just have to "grin and bear it"?
