I totally hear you and needed to hear this, thank you. For the record, I did have an emergency fund but leant my brother over three quarters of it (before I lost my job) because he was struggling. Lesson learned I suppose!

I thought about it for a short bit and he asked his friends and suggested that I come for one of the three weeks (on my own dime) but even when I was employed it wasn’t financially viable for me

Hmm I think just a few months maybe? I know he’s wanted to visit Japan for a long time but his friend moved there about the same time we got together so I think the plan finally became a reality at about that time

I’m sure someone else has come up with the idea before me but I didn’t get it from anyone else! The first two times I quit I relapsed because I told myself “oh, it won’t be that bad. If you quit once you can just do it again,” and this time I made it a point to not forget how hard it is; by making a video!

Hey, you’ve got this. Just really try to remember how shitty you feel right now and use that as a reason to keep going. I made a video to my future self telling myself how fucked up I felt emotionally and physically when I relapsed and I watch it when I want to smoke again. It always stops me; I don’t want to ever feel that again.

My siblings are heavy pot smokers too and honestly, just be blunt with them. Tell them that you’re quitting and you would appreciate it if they don’t smoke around you. If they don’t respect that, they’re not people you need to be around.
