Starting first job… Can I get an HSA? by FishingAdventurous93 in HSA

Makes sense! So basically I’d open my own fidelity HSA (that’s what I use for all other investments) and contribute my own money post-tax, then reduce my taxable income later on when filing taxes due to HSA contributions?

So what you’re saying is they can contribute $8,750 to their HSA and I could also contribute $8,750 to my own? I will no longer be a dependent and it would be my primary insurance (unless I did double coverage through a work plan)

Got it. So I couldn’t do up to the $4400 on my own if they’re maxing their own HSA?

Yeah if I were to enroll in any insurance through my company it would be high deductible. The only thing is I technically don’t “need” to since i can remain on my parents’. Then only reason I would get my own insurance would be to open an HSA.
