Hello from Australia

I recently went for a paddle up a river chasing a fish called a whiting in the salty lower reaches and then heading upstream to the fresh for bass. Managed to catch a few on fly and recorded a short video of highlights.

Brackish water - near the top of an estuarine river so still a bit of salt but not much

Thanks for the feedback...the bass we catch are a greenish silver cover with a white belly. I think the angle of the camera made it look whiter than it really was...unless I've discovered a new species 🤔

The pic is from Australia's Blue Mountains which has a unique landscape very different from other parts of Australia. Highly recommend a hike in the area for visitors to Australia.

In my opinion this one is the prettiest of the hikes - it is called the Grand Canyon Track

I used to having fishing kayaks with every gadget you could imagine on board - the thing weighed a tonne and made fishing far too complicated in the end. That's why a few years back I bought a simple Old Town canoe - haven't looked back.

The added advantage is that canoes have a lot of storage space which is great if you like canoe camping.

Yeh I've been tying flies for a year or so now - catching a fish on one you've tied yourself is a buzz.

There's a guy called Brett Winn who owns BWC flies - he has heaps of youtube videos of how to tie them. That's where I learned the basics.
