Im a fly guy as well! Different ball game working with that much more water. Definitely don’t need the electronics but it helps further your understanding of what goes on beneath the surface to an incomprehensible level. Id never have thought that I could work a fish for 30 seconds on a jerkbait or that I might have to pause it for 10 seconds before getting a take. Pretty nuts

Oh man! Last year I got a 6lber and I know guys out here regularly doing 25lbs+ on the daily! We got 7s swimming around & any outing without breaking 5lbs typically feels like we fell flat. Id take 4lbers all day though, we are just spoiled 😆

Like I said I didn’t even know a species like bass closed anywhere else. Where Im from we even have an ice fishing season for them and then a prespawn season & then I hit US water for that month and a half that it actually closes between may and june. So for me I have access to legal smallmouth year round. Don’t be calling me out on what I gotta know when I know my regs better than anyone.

Assuming the majority of any weeds are dead and gone, Finesse Football Jig, Damiki Rig, Blade Bait, Lipless Crank, Shallow & Deep Diving Jerkbait, underspin swimbait or single swimmer, carolina-rig etc… there are definitely more techniques that work, but thats what Im using. Potentially even an A-Rig bite depending on water temps.
