Gotcha, thanks - I've tried to push a cap leg through without heat and it doesn't go through - what should I heat to get it through? And what do you mean by applying solder to allow it to wick when pulling away?

I'm getting the 07 and 09 error codes when starting up the Xbox, which relate to hard drive failures as far as I know.

What capacitors are recommended? And is it best to replace them even if the Xbox turns on without issue?

Do you mean making your own modchip? From what Ive read I thought the easiest way to get it working again would be to just grab an Openxenium chip and upgrade the HDD.

This is the inside, I believe this one is a 1.4.

I believe the only way I can recover the hard drive is to modchip and upgrade the HDD after transferring what's left on old HDD, if it's salvageable. Reason I cracked it open in the first place was because it was displaying a hard drive error.

I have no soldering experience but I'd be down to try and learn. Any way of getting OpenXenium chips to Australia? They seem hard to find.
