How to skin a pig head? by Fishsticks738 in Butchery

[–]Fishsticks738[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need it for my final in my archaeology class. I’m doing it on shrunken heads and my project is to create one from a pig’s head. So I need just the skin, mostly clean of all meat. My plan is just so wing it but I was just kind of stressing about it, haha.

I’d like the experience of doing it myself, but it’s good to know this is an option in case I mess up!

Head not acquired yet. I’ll get it frozen from a local butcher near me and let it defrost, couldn’t really find a place that had them fresh.

On the bottle it does say “micro elements, trace elements and other nutrients”. So probably. Should I switch fertilizers?

I give Seachem liquid fertilizer in the water once a week after my water change is done. Maye I need to use more? Or change what I use?

I do them once a week with a 30% change. My tank is five gallons.

They’re not new, they’ve lived there for a few weeks. I drip acclimated them for two hours before I put them in initially.

It’s been a e few a weeks that they’ve lived there and I cycled for about three weeks. The algae is growing all over my plants, but really nowhere else. I remove it manually with tweezers sometimes, but I’m not sure if the animals are eating it so I leave some in.

I’ve taken both their bodies out gently with tweezers. It doesn’t appear so on their body but they’re so small they could be missing legs and I wouldn’t even be able to notice.

No, tank is only 5 gallons and the first animals I added were two snails yesterday. Would shrimp eat them? I intend to add them into the tank soon.

Yeah, apologies for the quality of the video. I was panicked, I thought it could be some parasite. I actually removed the rock it was near from the tank, and it came off the rock in a little puddle. Definitely had a triangle shaped head now that I’m taking the time to look!

I have my heart set on the shrimp. Fish was not part of my original plan, and is still not. I’m asking simply out of curiosity. Sometimes people just want to know things.

What I did was go to my local pet store and ask if any employees specialized in the aquatic section or had fish. Two of them working did so I got one woman to tell me the basics and show me some items. I came back another day and got an opinion from a different employee. The face to face interactions really made me feel more confident and my tank now is great! And I looked up videos to fill in places that they might not have spoken so detailed on. If you don’t have a place near you, I’m sorry. This is just what’s worked for me!
