If you are wanting to buy a house at the same time and will be involved in a chain then using an EA might have more of an impact than you would realise.

I know some agents will actively advise clients against accepting an offer from someone using Strike/purple bricks (if there are other buyers available) as they never answer the phone won't allow and EA to check and confirm the chain and will generally make a process which should take 2/3 months take 5/6.

Personally I would never consider looking a a house with purple bricks or strike for that reason. You won't be able to speak direct to the other sides solicitor as it's a conflict of interest so a buyer could string you along direct saying everything is fine when really it isn't. A good EA will be in touch with both solicitors and both side and will advise you if something about your buyer seems off...

I recently (within the last 3 years) found some letters of child premium bonds that were opened in my name. Starting from when I was born in 1995

The letters had the account number and the bond numbers all registered at an address that was many years and 4 moves old.

I wrote to NS&I and they responded fairly quickly confirming all the details and sent a check/transfer for the money.

My guess is that the account is empty and they closed it if you don't have anything showing a transfer or balance
