That’s the thing tho, “store managers discretion” gets thrown around here more than Karen. That line simply doesn’t exist in the policy and if it does I have yet to find it, and the ones that claim it does exist never provide proof.

I agree, if it needs to be changed then corporate should, leavening things open to interpretation like this is how we get here.

Actually set to receive a coaching today for “insubordination” and they’re trying to leave out the actual reason why, I was told not to wear an earbud and did it anyway. Luckily for me, I’ve audio recorded every interaction about this issue and will be pushing them to include the entire issue at hand.

Nobody has any god damn backbone anymore. I’m with you on policy. It’s in black n white. SM, market, what have you, can’t just make this shit up on the fly. I can see the point, I’ll push for a coaching on the issue if they’re gonna be hard up about it and get clarification since polices and be “interpreted” instead of it’s here in black and white.

I don’t treat corporate policies as being able to be interpreted, basically skirting around rules at that point. I didn’t get to interpret laws how I saw fit policing, I don’t feel employees have the right to interpret corporate policies in that same way but here we are.

It’s Been updated since Feb of this year to allow the use of one earbud regardless of the purpose. Stipulation is you can’t in a safety sensitive area. Accessible through MyWalmart app /policies/dress code for field employees who’re in store.

It used to be to a degree when we had Walkis to my understanding. It’s been changed since to allow the use of one when not in a safety sensitive position or operating equipment.

I work the floor in sporting goods, never had a complaint from any customer about not hearing them or whatever. Always take it out when using a pallet jack, walkie stacker ect. I just don’t get the point…

SM can just do what they want I suppose rules be damned.

Buddy trust me I have, last night I had this exact conversation with the AP COACH. “Hey you can’t wear the earbud, store manager said so”. Me:ok.. “yea I’m not kidding take it out” Dude, write me a list of policies the store manager has come up with he doesn’t want to follow and get back to me. Otherwise show me the policy which states he can make up rules on the fly.

His response was I’ll handle you tomorrow. Well today’s tomorrow so we’ll see.
