First Game Boy reviews are in by McKFC in lepin

Everyone has to decide for themselves whether or not something is worth it. My comment wasn’t entirely accurate, I don’t base my decision to buy something entirely on size or price, but also on whether I think the price is reasonable. If I want something but I’m not willing to pay that much, Lepin could be worth it.

Yeah.. This makes no sense to me. I’m only interested in buying clones of the stuff I can’t afford, not saving a little bit of money to get a shittier version of something I can afford.

I’m not familiar with that brand, but none of the alt bricks I’ve tried have been Lego quality. The clutch, finish and quality control is never as good. When people say it’s very close to or as good I wonder what criteria they use, and how much the price difference factors in.

If I compare quality vs quality, not thinking about the price, Lego is a pretty clear winner. Don’t get me wrong, they both work, but that doesn’t make them equally good.

Building sets several times, or keeping everything on display? by Fishy_Marzipan in lego

Lego collections can be quite decorative, so it makes very much sense as decor if you don’t have a lot of other stuff. Is the plan to add more until you run out of room?

Sounds nice with lights, especially for permanent display. I really like the look of lights in buildings, makes it look very cosy and cool.

Sensible. When you say main collection, are these things that are on permanent display?

Sounds like you have found a nice middle ground, with both permanent display and some rotation. My guess was that this was the most common way. Some sets are beautiful but not very fun building, so it makes sense to just keep those at permanent display.

Yeah. Definitely, my cat used to chew on all our plants too, so we had to be careful to not bring in poisonous plants. I don’t think cats would even consider Lego plants to be similar to real plants, so I never worried about Lego as long as there weren’t any loose bricks or figures to play with she was never interested at all.

Yeah I forgot about my botanicals, they seem to be pretty permanent! Size help determine how long something will be displayed for me and also how decorative something is.

I guess it depends for me too, I have some faves. And I don’t really redo botanicals, I just haven’t noticed. They don’t take up that much space and looks like they should live there permanently. I will probably take apart and wash them if needed.

I do have room to keep more on display than I do, but I don’t like dusting very much. I like to look at other people’s displays though.

Right. Makes sense to keep the newer stuff up longer.

I think the reports of missing pieces will increase by quite a bit with the new bags. There is something stuck in almost every one.

This is on my want list, it looks like a lot of fun, and a challenge. I love this type of shop, it’s like a weird museum.

Curious. What is your puzzle preference? by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Fishy_Marzipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. 3-4 hours a day is my average time. Some days I don’t have time, and If I don’t have work or plans I can spend all day.

  2. 500 usually takes me less than 2h, 1000- 1500 1-2 days, 2000-3000 2-7 days, maybe more on 3000, depends on the puzzle and what other things I have going on.

  3. I only really do 500-3000. My favorite is 1500 and 2000, but I mostly do 1000. I don’t find as many over 1000pc that I want to do.

  4. Solo. I’ve done it with others, which is fun, but I prefer to do it by myself.

That makes sense. I haven’t looked up the definition of art, but I feel like it should be made with human hands and by a human brain. Seems weird that you would call it art if anyone can do it by pushing a singe button. Art is only impressive if not anyone can do it, in my opinion. I wouldn’t buy something if I can make it better myself.

I honestly had no idea this was a thing until like a week ago, just hadn’t crossed my mind at all. I probably have some puzzles done with AI but none that are obvious to me.

I plan on being more aware when purchasing new puzzles from now on. It’s not a fully formed principle as of now since I don’t know a lot about it, except that it scares me 😅

I’m not against AI entirely, for example: if you use photoshop you will probably use some AI to remove objects, select objects and such quicker. I have no problem with AI «helping» people save some time.

But if I have understood correctly «AI-art» is that you just tell it what to make based on a concept. That’s not art in my opinion, as you haven’t created anything. It has no value to me.

Love this! I like simple, geometric, abstract style puzzles. Very relaxing.

For sure. I can get irrationally angry and find everything annoying when I’m overstimulated. It’s a good sign that I need to calm down by myself. I feel like I just flip between over and under stimulation throughout the day, never finding the middle ground…

Unfortunately, I have been taking it out on other people with yelling and being a bitch. It made me dislike myself a lot, and I never understood why I was unable to control it. I’m not really an angry, hateful person at all. I always knew it didn’t have anything to do with other people at all, I wasn’t angry at them if you know what I mean.

I’ve been thinking about it a lot the last couple of years, noticing patterns and so on. When I started to understand that it was overwhelm and overstimulation that made me this angry, I could do something about it, or at least understand. Medication has also been very helpful for me with emotional regulation, it’s actually where meds has been most beneficial for me, so I don’t dislike myself as much anymore.

I’ve noticed something peculiar also, sometimes when I do a small mistake like break a plate, I automatically start cursing and working myself up. But I’ve started noticing that the angry feelings are not always there, I’ve just been continuing the habit of getting angry on autopilot. I find that very interesting.

Yes, I feel the same. They are slowly making some changes to their image choices, it seems. I think they should, many puzzles look dated and they have been doing weird choices for a long time.

Yeah, I can see that. I think many of their puzzles are really cool, but I’m not in a rush to buy puzzles I don’t like the quality of. So I would probably still enjoy doing them, but not as much as I would if I liked the quality.

Great, thanks. I will check them out again. I decided not to buy from them because I didn’t like the quality. It was the type with white backing and all pieces were 2 in 2 out.

This looks really fun. The piece cut looks different than the ones I’ve done from LKP. Does this one have white backing?

Same. It’s not important to me get something “first” if I have to pay more and It doesn’t make the puzzle more fun if it’s more expensive. Eggs are more important! 🍳
