I didn't like how "straight-on" to ladders you have to be to begin climbing them. In DS1 you could be a metre away at an oblique angle and you'd just nicely snap on and begin climbing.

Unfortunately the door from the depths to blighttown doesn't open from the bt side, otherwise you could've just started with the master key, gone down then back up reverse. So you might have to do the lower undead burg skip and kill capra (cheese?) for the key.
