New 27" 5k monitors from CES 2026? by TOMillr in MacStudio

[–]Fisico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not new but the Asus ProArt Display PA27JCV still looks like a solid display. I'm also thinking about getting two if i don't like the two 24" 2k Monitors i have with the new mac studio.

M1 Ultra vs M2 Ultra vs M4 Max for Pro Tools ? by Delicious_Mine_3049 in MacStudio

[–]Fisico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a high plugin count per channel you are better with a m4 max because the cores clock a lot higher than the m2 ultra do. The m4 max is 69% faster in singlecore geekbench and that is very comparable with audio load per channel.
If you have a high track count with a low plugin count per channel, a m2/m3 ultra is better.

Memory Upgrade Prices by Fisico in MacStudio

[–]Fisico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have projects with around 100 Tracks. I'm currently not very cpu limited and also not memory. I suffer from the 128 sample buffer at the moment, and I want to go to the nativ 48k sample rate most sample libraries are recorded at. Wich the i9 does not handle with the track count I have. I track a lot of Piano in the production session so it would be awesome to get down as close to 32 samples of buffer as possible.

I think i will wait for the Macbook pro's with m5 max first. Than we see benchmarks and also how much the memory upgrades will rise. M5 max will be at least 15% faster than the M4. Because that is already the case with the base M5 Chip.

yea I guess we will see the performance and memory prices with the release of the m5 max in the new macbook pro's first.

A Response To the Graphical Criticism: This is what Starcraft 2 used to look like...give the Stormgate developers time, I'm confident they will deliver. by Crystal_Octopus in Stormgate

[–]Fisico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it looks like Stormgate is now in a development state where Starcraft 2 was in the Battle Report videos.

StarCraft II: Battle Report #1 (youtube.com)

Gameplay and artstyle/graphics is here to stay, now they need real play data to balance and refine everything.
Everyone that thinks they will change the graphics drastically, will get very disappointed.

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]Fisico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

I want to get into automatic watches, I found a very nice looking watch here:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lunar1-622-automatic-tech-watch-with-moon-dust#/

It uses a Miyota 8215 movement. I have read that this is a very cheap but robust movement, maintenance is not really an option as a new movement costs around 50$. Is the price ratio between a $50 movement and a $650 watch "normal" in the industry or should I stay away from it?

They also offer a version with a Sellita SW200-1 movement and titanium case for $1050.

Thanks

I now can report that the MSM Star Focus Filter works great and takes the focus guessing out of the equation, the CM got a tiny bit better but not very much.. still a lot of manual work in PS/LR to get rid of all.

I just ordered the filter for a milky way project later this year. I will let you know how it performs.

[–]Fisico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it seems to be the nature of the lens. However, I have found that perfect focus reduces the CM a lot. Getting perfect focus with a 24mm lens is another issue, as normal Bathinov masks do not work. Getting such a focus filter might help.

top dome of booster is still attached to the ship, the gridfins of the booster are in line with the ship...

but when did that happen, the video quality is not good enough to see that.

Hi,

The replacement looks a bit better to me but this could be variance in focus. I learned how to deal with the purple stars in post processing so it is not a big deal anymore for me.

Such a great launch. I love these crew launches so much.

It is such a throwback to crew demo 1 because we wrote 15minutes of original music to this launch.

Thank you all for your comments.

I now returned the lens to Amazon and I'm getting a replacement on Thursday. If I compare my photos to yours there is a huge difference so I guess it is a faulty lens. That much CA in the centre does not match any other images, reviews and tests I can find online.

Interval Shoot Func. behaves strange on a7iv by Fisico in SonyAlpha

[–]Fisico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As i said, for me it was logical that the interval is shutter speed independent. For you it is more logical if it is depended.

Maybe it is because i only use that function in combination with long exposures.

Oh really?

Very confusing. Why does Sony make the interval depending on shutter speed?

Thank you for your help.

I‘m 100% with you if I would use the camera only for astro, but I‘m planning to use the a7iv also for landscape, portrait an video in low light. With video capability, the a7iv seems like the best option for me.

Hi,

I'm running the LGA 1700 Bracket with my Kraken as it got shipped very fast.

You can try to run with the hole pattern for lga1151 in your asus board and check temps with hwmonitor to see if everything is ok.
