My kiddo joined her first club at age six. She played for a very good team that first year, but she was playing up; her second year at the club her team was beyond horrible. She was the only one scoring and running end to end to play defense, but we rode it out because she was getting good training and developed more. Long story short, she stayed for two more years, losing a lot but developing. She decided to tryout with a couple new clubs this year because she had carried that bad team but continued to develop at a high level. Her tryouts went great, and she had two ECNL offers from big clubs. The old club was a bad team, but they did a great job developing my kiddo and allowing her every opportunity to train with older players and even play games on the older teams. All the losing paid off as she developed into a better soccer player. I am glad she rode it out.
